Another spicy day on the KAP sani2c race 🎉

That’s 2 for 2 in both the men’s and women’s race with Team Pyga Euro Steel 2 and Team Efficient Infinity Insure hold on to their leader jerseys for the third and final stage of the race.

Team Efficient Infinity was also fourth overall. How incredible is that? 🔥🔥🔥

Another team that had an exceptional stage was Tshenolo Adventure Racing.

After a thrilling Prologue to open the racing, every team was revved and ready to hit Stage 1 of the KAP sani2c with all they had.

This morning riders left Glencairn this morning to race 89 kms, with 1027m of climibing.

Illegal performance enhancing drugs and medical procedures are an issue in professional sport and cycling is no different.

A new method of performance enhancement has recently arisen, garnering a fair bit of attention in the press. That is the use of extracellular haemoglobin from Arenicola marina lugworms (also known as sandworms), to increase oxygen transport in the blood of an athlete.

We also dig into what makes this worm’s red blood cells so special and speak with a Athlete Biological Passport specialist from the South African Institute for Drug-Free Sport to find out more about this potential doping mechanism and how it might be controlled in professional sport.
