SIT 🪑 SIP 🥂 SPOTLIGHT 🌟

So, you’ve heard about , right? That eye-catching yellow block with a red logo, putting South African design on the pedestal it deserves? Well, amidst the creative buzz and insane lineup of curated events that took place in Joburg last week, we teamed up with like-minded entity, and house of – .africa – to create more noise... celebrating our local design community with not one, not two, but three collaborative experiences!

Here’s a quick breakdown… 📰

🗺️ the window & exhibition : Based on the concept, ‘The Traveling Eye’, we co-curated (with the help and ‘eye’ of ) a window display and retail experience, inspired by ’s travel-themed edition (Discover) – taking its cue from all things blue: skies, oceans, rivers, and maps.

🕯️ the dinner : To kick-off Design Week Joburg we, aka , and .africa hosted an intimate dinner at to honour the local design community. Creating a space to connect and celebrate with friends over chopstick chow 🥢 by , and creamy treats 🍦 by .gelato. And, to set the mood, beautiful table details🍴from , twinkles 🕯️ by .candle, aqua 💧 from and drinks 🍾 from . And a toast from and , raising a glass to all their fellow pioneering design folks, friends and family.

TAKING TO THE STREETS 🚦

There’s a new kid on the block, and it’s (finally) time for her debut! Kicking off this week Thursday (sheesh, we’re excited!), is the first-ever Design Week SA (), starting in JOZI before heading down to CPT (but we’ll get to that later). 🟨

Besides our excitement for the incredible lineup of tours, exhibitions, launches, workshops, and discussions lying ahead, we’re EVEN MORE excited to share what we ( and ) have in store... 🤸

This week’s JOZI agenda? First up: is hosting a panel discussion with some of our most visionary ‘eyes’ (stay tuned for the reveal). Then, we’ve got a special collab display 🪟 between and .africa (keep those eyes peeled!). And to wrap it up, what’s (any) design week without an exclusive celebratory dinner... (ahhh, stop with the teasers already 😉). All focused on the art of seeing, spotlighting, showcasing, and supporting the local industry through our ‘eyes’. 👁️
