I watch this movie and made me sad a little,
Humanity need to do better than this ,

"The Six Triple Eight," directed by Tyler Perry, portrays the experiences of the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion, an all-Black, all-female unit during World War II. The film highlights several poignant moments that underscore the challenges and sacrifices these women faced.

One particularly emotional scene involves Lena Derriecott King, portrayed by Ebony Obsidian, who is haunted by the memory of her late lover, Abram David. Throughout the film, Lena grapples with her grief, often envisioning David's presence, which affects her interactions and duties within the battalion. This portrayal emphasizes the personal losses endured by those serving in the war.

Another heart-wrenching moment occurs when the battalion confronts systemic racism within the military. Major Charity Adams, played by Kerry Washington, faces dehumanizing treatment from her white superiors, including General Halt, who expresses distrust in the capabilities of Black women soldiers. These encounters highlight the additional battles against prejudice that the battalion had to fight alongside their military duties.

The film also depicts the tragic loss of battalion members. In one scene, two soldiers die in a jeep accident while riding with male soldiers. This event underscores the dangers faced by the unit, not only from external threats but also due to the challenging conditions in which they operated.

Additionally, the battalion's tireless efforts to process a massive backlog of undelivered mail are met with inadequate resources and unsafe working conditions. Despite these obstacles, the women persevere, driven by the knowledge that their work is crucial for maintaining the morale of soldiers and their families. This dedication, in the face of systemic neglect, adds a layer of poignancy to their story.

These scenes collectively shed light on the emotional and physical hardships endured by the 6888th Battalion, highlighting their resilience and the profound impact of their service during a tumultuous period in history.

Meta is changing,
Good news for Facebook users in general ?

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has announced significant changes aimed at restoring free expression across the company's platforms, including Facebook and Instagram. These changes involve ending the third-party fact-checking program and introducing a Community Notes system, similar to the model used by X (formerly Twitter).

Zuckerberg stated that the move is an attempt to return to Meta's roots of free expression, acknowledging that previous content moderation efforts had become overly restrictive and prone to errors. He emphasized the need to simplify policies and reduce mistakes in content enforcement.

The decision comes as Zuckerberg seeks to build ties with the incoming Trump administration, aligning with a broader cultural shift towards prioritizing free speech. Critics, however, express concerns that these changes could lead to an increase in misinformation and hate speech on Meta's platforms.

The new Community Notes system will rely on user contributions to provide context to posts, aiming to empower the community in content moderation. Meta plans to phase in this system in the U.S. over the next few months, replacing the existing fact-checking controls and reducing content demotions.

Additionally, Meta will lift certain restrictions on topics like immigration and gender identity, allowing for broader political discourse. The company also plans to relocate its trust and safety teams from California to Texas and other U.S. locations, reflecting a strategic shift in its operations.

While proponents argue that these changes will enhance free expression, opponents warn of potential risks, including the spread of harmful content and the erosion of safeguards against misinformation. The impact of these policy shifts will become clearer as they are implemented in the coming months.

Christmas in Ethiopia 🇪🇹

in Ethiopia, Christmas is celebrated on January 7th, according to the Ethiopian Orthodox Church calendar, known as the Ge'ez calendar. The holiday is locally called Gena or Lidet, and it is marked by unique religious and cultural traditions.

Key Elements of Ethiopian Christmas:

1. Religious Observances:

Christmas celebrations start with an all-night church service on January 6th, continuing into the early hours of January 7th.

Followers fast for 43 days leading up to Gena, in a period known as the Fast of the Prophets.

On Christmas morning, people wear traditional white garments called shamma and attend Mass, where priests lead prayers and chanting.

2. Cultural Traditions:

After the religious services, families gather for a festive meal. The typical dishes include doro wat (spicy chicken stew) served with injera (a sourdough flatbread).

Children often play a traditional game called gena, similar to hockey, which is believed to have been played by shepherds during the time of Jesus' birth.

3. Unique Practices:

The celebrations are more spiritual and less commercial compared to Western Christmas traditions. Gift-giving is minimal, focusing instead on family and community gatherings.

In Lalibela, famous for its rock-hewn churches, large numbers of pilgrims arrive to participate in grand Christmas services.

Who was Amílcar Cabral ?

Amílcar Cabral (1924–1973) was a revolutionary leader, intellectual, and nationalist from Guinea-Bissau and Cape Verde. He played a crucial role in the struggle for independence from Portuguese colonial rule. A highly educated agronomist by profession, Cabral used his knowledge of agriculture and rural society to organize and lead the African Party for the Independence of Guinea and Cape Verde (PAIGC), which he co-founded in 1956.

Key Contributions:

1. Leader of Liberation Movements: Cabral led the PAIGC in a successful guerrilla war against Portuguese forces from 1963 until his assassination in 1973.

2. Advocate for Pan-Africanism: He was a key figure in the broader Pan-African independence movements and had strong connections with leaders like Kwame Nkrumah and Julius Nyerere.

3. Philosopher of Revolution: Known for his writings on colonialism, culture, and national liberation, Cabral believed that cultural identity and education were essential in the fight for freedom.

4. Assassination: He was assassinated on January 20, 1973, in Conakry, Guinea, by dissidents within his movement, allegedly with the involvement of Portuguese intelligence.

Cabral's leadership and ideas continue to inspire liberation movements and intellectual thought on decolonization and African unity.

The Two Brothers and the Wall

Once upon a time, there were two brothers who lived on adjoining farms. They were the best of friends, sharing work and ideas every day. One day, they had a small misunderstanding that grew into a major conflict. Angry words were exchanged, and they stopped speaking to each other.

One morning, there was a knock at the older brother’s door. It was a carpenter looking for work. The brother said, "I want you to build a high wall between my farm and my brother’s. I never want to see him again." The carpenter agreed and worked all day.

At sunset, when the brother came out to inspect, he was shocked. Instead of a wall, the carpenter had built a beautiful bridge over the stream that separated the two farms. Just then, the younger brother approached with a smile, saying, "You built a bridge after all I’ve said and done? Thank you!" The two brothers met in the middle, hugged, and were reconciled.

The older brother turned to thank the carpenter, but he was already walking away. "I have many more bridges to build," he said.

Moral: Be the builder of bridges, not walls. Even in the face of conflict, choose kindness.
