KNP SENTENCED RHINO POACHERS 50 YEARS DIRECT IMPRISONMENT

KNP: The 36 years Dominic Mnisi sentenced 50 years in jail for illegal hunting in the Kruger National Park whilst Ayanda Ngomani and Lwanzi Malambe were both sentenced 33 years direct imprisonment by Skukuza Regional Court on Thursday 25 July 2024.

A convicted rhino poacher has blamed his syndicate bosses after receiving a 50-year jail term for illegal hunting in the Kruger National Park (KNP).

The trio were convicted by the same court in early June after being found guilty by the presiding magistrate Jan Ngobeni.

Mnisi and Malambe were arrested in January 2017 at Stols Nek after they were found in possession of a rifle, ammunition and four fresh rhino horns, which were later linked to two recently killed white rhino found near where they were apprehended.

The three were convicted of trespassing, hunting rhinos, possession of an unlicensed firearm, conspiracy to commit a crime, possession of a firearm with the intention to commit a crime, possession of unlicensed ammunition and cruelty to animals, among others.

“ I was recruited into this by someone who promised me the world… He was saying we don’t even have beds so we should work for him. I joined in and have been paid by going to jail for 50 years". Said Dominic Mnisi

Mnisi could not disclose their names out of fear of retaliation.

KNP spokesperson Ike Phaahla welcomed the sentencing.

“We are happy with the decision of the court to give them active sentences. It was appropriate and he took it to consider their personal circumstances but also considered the public good and the seriousness of the crime,” Phaahla said.

🚨5 South African Footballers Who Went Broke After Retirement

1. Philemon Masinga – A man whose fame rose dradticall when he scored a goal that took South Africa to it’s World Cup in 1998. Je was a business man too in result he became a multi-millionaire. In a matter of a few period of time , Masinga went from Hero to Zero and lost all his fame and fortune. The clear indication to that was when he moved from a mansion worth millions to a back room at his mother’s house in Soweto.
2. Steve Lekoelea – Right after he cut ties with all his clubs he went bankrupt. One may blame it on his early retirement but the truth behind is that all the money he had left he used on parties. His glory was indeed short – lived.
3.Thembinkosi Fanteni – Fanteni loved the lavish life , he purchased all the highly priced products from international brands. He also splurged his money on women and cars. Fanteni must have felt like he was dreaming all along when he realised that his bank balance was becoming imbalanced.
4. Junaid Hartley – Hartley went broke after he used all the money believed he had made to his career by paying lawyers when he was attempting to cut ties with Orlando Pirates. He tried to live revive his career but to his unluck , nothing of what he favors best availed
5. Jabu Mahlangu – A man that grew up poor but got his big break when his talent for football gave him the life he envisioned. Mahlangu’s life of riches was short lived though , he used all the money on the party lifestyle. After his retirement he went broke.

FIVE SUSPECTS ARRESTED FOR KIDNAPPING OF 14-YEAR-OLD GIRL IN KRIEL

Nelspruit: The Acting Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Major General (Dr) Zeph Mkhwanazi, has applauded the swift action of SAPS members that led to the arrest of five suspects, including two women and three men, aged between 23 and 41 for the alleged kidnapping of a 14-year-old girl in Kriel on Monday, 22 July 2024.

It is further alleged that soon after the girl was kidnapped, these suspects made calls to the victim's mother, threatening to kill the girl if Police were alerted.

The two off-duty Police Constables were called upon by the Acting Station Commander of Kriel to assist in tracing the suspects.

The off-duty members followed up some information and traced the suspects until they cornered four of them in Vereeniging, in the Gauteng Province, this afternoon (Tuesday, 23 July 2024). The girl was also found unharmed.

The arrested suspects in Gauteng were three males and one female (41), while the fifth suspect, a female (30), was also arrested in Kriel this afternoon.

The suspects are facing charges relating to kidnapping and extortion. Yvonne Chaka Chaka accuses Chicco Twala of withholding royalties for 'Umqombothi' hit Song

The well-known South African music luminary Yvonne Chaka Chaka has unleashed a wave of controversy with her recent claims that Chicco Twala, has allegedly failed to provide her with the rightful royalties owed for her creative input on the timeless track 'Umqombothi.'

Yvonne said she co-composed some elements in the song, hence she deserved to be paid.

“Umqombothi was written by Chicco, but I added some elements to it. I added that Nawu! Nawu! Madoda and Everybody parts. I have never received a cent from that project. They didn’t credit me, and back then, I was young and clueless about the music industry. This is the first time I’m speaking out about this,” she said.

“Umqombothi made me who I am today, but I am hurt because I was never credited as the co-composer of the song. I was supposed to be credited as the co-composer of the song as some elements that I contributed to the song,” she said.

However, Chicco Twala thinks otherwise about Yvonne’s claim.

“Yvonne earned millions out of live concerts, and the whole of Africa knows that, if not the whole world. Me and Attie, as the writers of the song, didn’t even make half a quarter of the money she made from that song. Performers make almost 90% of any hit that a songwriter makes,” Twala said to Zimoja.
