What is this POPI Act? 🤷🏽‍♀️

🟢 POPI is an acronym for Protection of Personal Information and it is South Africa’s data privacy law that governs when and how businesses (local and foreign) collect and handle your personal information.

🟢 Businesses will be compliant to establish strict measures to ensure that personal information are collected, used, stored, deleted and handled in permitted ways and that it is appropriately protected from unauthorized access or loss.

🟢 Failing to comply to the POPI Act can have great consequences; like 10 years imprisonment or a fine of R10 million!

Emails form part of our daily routine as an online business, and for most businesses in different industries as well!

Here are 3 important tips on email writing:

✅ Subject lines are important.
Don't ever leave your subject line blank, it's the quickest you'll lose someone's attention, instead create catchy subject lines that relate to the contact of your email.

✅ Keep it short and simple.
Nobody wants to read a 10-paragraph email, not even a blog post that's 10-paragraphs long. Shorten your content to at least 2 paragraphs no longer than 4 paragraphs and get your message across with minimal words.

✅ Always proofread your emails.
I can't stress this enough! Sending emails with typos, spelling, and grammar errors makes you look bad (and this goes for all publications; blogs, social media content, etc). Take a minute to proofread your email before you hit send.
