Self over Christ?

We've all had days when we feel like disappearing when your alarm goes off in the morning. The thought of going to school or work feels like such a drag. If it were up to you, you'd just stay in bed, Netflix and chill. Because we recognize the consequences of not going to work or school, we drag ourselves out of bed and go about our day. You also ensure that you arrive on time...

However, we sometimes fail to apply the same urgency when it comes to our walk with the Lord. We're unbothered when we arrive late to church, we don't see the need to report when you won't be attending a service and we don't even flinch when a week goes by without even praying. Everything has become about what is convenient for us.

The fact that we value our work, school and other areas of our lives more than the Lord, shows where our hearts truly lie. ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭6:21‬ ‭KJV‬‬
[21] for where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

If it's going to cost you your sleep, you don't want it. If it's going to cost you your time and money, you don't want it. We have made Christianity all about convenience. We have chosen self over Christ.

‭‭2 Timothy‬ ‭3:2‬ ‭KJV‬‬
[2] For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,

"For men shall be lovers of their own selves..."

This is made evidence in our pursuit of the Lord's hand and not His heart.

Be disciplined when it comes to your prayer life. Don't compromise or choose to do what is convenient for you. Attend those services. Dive into the Word. Choose Him because in doing so, you are choosing life.

May the Lord strengthen us and help us become more intentional in our walk with Him. May we live a life of total surrender and have His Word as the governing authority in our lives. May He help us to die to self daily, so that we can take up His cross, and follow Him.

May it always be: Christ over self.

For Immediate Release

*Invitation to registered non funded ECD centres to apply for Subsidy*

Free State Department of Education is inviting all registered unfunded Early Childhood Development Centres ( ECDs) in the province to submit business plans to be considered for funding in the 2024/2025 financial year.

Many registered and functional ECD centres are not funded by the department .

The department therefore call on them to apply for the subsidy to capacitate their centres.

Since last year the ECD functions have been shifted from the Department of Social Development to the Department of Basic Education.

Currently the Free State Department of Education is funding more than
1300 ECD centres across the provonce.

These ECD subsidies will go a long way in assisting centres from disadvantaged communities and benefit children who are beneficiaries of social grants.

They will also help improve centres to deliver quality ECD services.

There are about 178 registered unfunded ECD centres with 10 697 children in the province.

Application forms for the ECDs subsidies are available at all department’s district offices.

The danger of alternatives‼⚠️

I requested a lift from a colleague yesterday morning, and he agreed. I however did not hear him when he responded (coz he was walking and in a hurry). I then asked someone else and left with them. He then comes to me later and asks why I didn't go to the car because he had been waiting for me until he decided to leave.
I then explained that I thought he didn't hear me when I asked him, hence my decision to ask someone else.

Unfortunately, this what something we sometimes find ourselves doing in our walk with God. We're able to present our requests to the Lord, yet we're very quick to look for alternatives.

Mouth: "Dear Lord, please provide me with 123."

Mind: "If God does not answer me, I'll ask so and so to assist me."

Heart: "Can God really do this for me?"

Such things reveal A LOT about our hearts' posture and how we view God.

It is very easy for us to claim to love, trust and believe in Him, yet our hearts are far from this.

Looking for alternatives is proof of our wavering faith and the constant choosing of self over Christ.

May the Lord help us to truly believe Him and not doubt His character. May He deliver us from doubt and uncertainty.
