The Deputy Minister of Tourism Ms. Maggie Sotyu is visiting the Yakhisizwe Secondary School in Parys in support of government's annual Back-to-School programme. The Back to School initiative highlights education as a national priority in supporting economic. development, reducing poverty and inequality, whilst improving the lives of young people.

The Deputy Minister’s visit takes place as the Free State Department of Education achieves the top position in the Grade-12, 2024 pass rate for the sixth consecutive time, with the Fezile Dabi District achieving a second position as the best performing region in the country.

1 FREE-STATE TV GIVES BACK WITH THE HELP OF THE PHITISE FOUNDATION 💛

CEO and Founder of 1 Free-State TV, Mr Paul Phitise gifted school shoes to Bodibeng ba Thutho Primary School in Thaba Phatswa, a few kilometers from Tweespruit.

Fifty pairs of school shoes for boys and girls were gifted to the learners at this school. The Principal Mme Ntsoaki Lekalake could not hide her happiness.

Botshabelo, Bloemfontein, Brandford and other farm schools will also be benefiting from this project in the upcoming days.

No late applications or walk-ins allowed at CUT

All application statuses have been communicated starting from 14 January 2025, following the release of the national matric results. Prospective students are encouraged to monitor their e-mail and the official CUT application portal: https://www.cut.ac.za/application-process for updates.

The University condemns those who mislead the public into paying for registration assistance. If someone solicits money for help with your application or registration, it's a scam.

Online registration is open for first-time students from 22 to 27 January 2025, and for senior/current students from 28 to 31 January 2025. For more registration details, visithttps://www.cut.ac.za/enrolment-process.

The Central University of Technology will not accept late or walk-in applications for the 2025 academic year. Starting 27 January 2025, the Central Application Clearing House (CACH) will support unsuccessful applicants, helping them find opportunities in public universities, TVET colleges, or SETA learnerships. Registration can be done online at cach.cas.ac.za, and CACH services are free.

CUT advises the public and prospective students to be cautious about misinformation and to use official University communication channels for accurate information.

Mangaung Property Indaba discussions were underway at City Hall on the
17th of January 2025 in Bloemfontein.

Makgotso Makopo "Gogo Maweni" Bail Application Postponed

Pretoria, South Africa - January 20, 2025

The bail application of Makgotso, popularly known as Gogo Maweni, has been postponed until January 27, 2025. The postponement was granted by the court due to the pending submission of a formal bail application.

According to court proceedings, the defense team requested additional time to prepare and submit the formal bail application. The prosecution did not oppose the request, and the court subsequently granted the postponement.

Gogo Maweni's bail application will now be heard on January 27, 2025. The court will consider the formal bail application and make a determination on whether to grant bail.

We will provide updates on this case as more information becomes available.

The MEC of Education Dr MJ Maboya held the annual Well-Done Function to celebrate the Matric Class of 2024 for their outstanding achievement by ranking Free-states top of the list, once again.

The MEC awarded the top Matriculants in different subjects and top achievers in the province, Dr. Maboya also congratulated all the teaching and supporting staff members that were present during the function for their exceptional work during the 2024 examination season.

This prestigious event was held at Central University of Technology on Friday the 17th of January 2025.

STOKVEL SCAMMER

29 year old suspect Lebohang Mokatedi from Botshabelo, was arrested on the
30th of December 2024 in East London on fraud charges.

The suspect appeared in the Bloemfontein Magistrates Court on the
16th of January 2025 but the case has been postponed.

OFFICE OF THE PREMIER in the FREE-STATE and DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION ANNOUNCED THE PROVINCE MATRIC RESULTS FOR 2024

The top ten learners in the province were also in attendance at the media briefing that was held yesterday at the Central University of Technology in Bloemfontein on the 14th of January 2025.

Premier of the Free-State, MaQueen Letsoha Mathae, MEC of Eduaction, Dr MJ Maboya, MEC of COGTA, Saki Mokoena, Head of Department of Education, Adv. T Malakoane updated the media on the performances of the class of 2024 in which the province secured a 91% pass rate and standing as the number one position in the country.

MINISTERIAL VISIT TO MELKRAAL FARM.

On the 3rd of January 2025 the Minister of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development Mzwanele Nyhontso alongside the Premier of the Free-State, MaQueen Letsoha Mathae, met with emerging farmers from different regions, who raised their concerns of corruption and the challenges they face in the farming sector.

This meeting took place on Melkraal Farm on the outskirts of Odendaalsrus.

Minister Nyhontso and Premier MaQueen promised farmers that their concerns have been taken into consideration and an investigation will be made so that those implicated in foul play will be held accountable.
