Good evening.
Here is a simple basic recipe for scones for you to try.
2 cups cake flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons baking powder
60g butter or margarine
1/4 cup sugar
2 eggs mixed with 80m1(1/3 cups) milk or amasi
Beaten egg or milk to glaze
Preheat your oven to 180’c
Grease your baking tray with margarine and set aside.
In a bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder and salt
Rub in the butter/margarine with your fingertips until it resembles breadcrumbs
Add in the sugar and mix, add the egg and milk mixture and mix to a soft dough. Do not over mix.
Take the dough to a floured surface and gently flatten the dough (not too thick and not too thin either) with your flour hands until smooth,
Use a cutter, and cut your scones into round or square shapes.
Place scones on to the greased baking tray, brush the tops with the beaten egg or milk.
Bake for 15-20 minutes. Coolon a wire rack, keep in an air rite container.
Nb: dont over mix, don’t open your oven prematurely or else your scones will flop.
Enjoy
