Robert Kennedy Jr., figlio di Robert e nipote di John F. Kennedy, è intervenuto il 20 giugno 2023 al Saint Anselm College in Goffstown, nel New Hampshire, con un discorso dedicato alla politica estera statunitense e alla necessità di costruire la pace. Ha espresso, in questo frangente, opinioni controcorrente rispetto all'attuale governo di Washington e a un clima che, nell'introduzione, ha definito di censura e di silenziamento del dissenso.

“Gli Stati Uniti hanno utilizzato l’Ucraina come una pedina nella loro guerra per procura contro la Russia”, ha affermato. “Washington, sostenendo militarmente Kiev, ha volutamente ignorato molte opportunità per risolvere la situazione in modo pacifico".

Il nipote di JFK ha ricordato più volte le esperienze e gli insegnamenti di suo zio: "Mi ha insegnato che per risolvere una situazione di conflitto bisogna mettersi nei panni del proprio avversario". Aggiungendo: "le preoccupazioni della Russia sull'aspirazione dell'Ucraina a entrare nella NATO sono legittime, ma gli Stati Uniti le hanno ignorate. Hanno compreso che il coinvolgimento di Kiev nell’Alleanza Atlantica avrebbe comportato una risposta violenta da parte della Russia, ma la verità è che gli Stati Uniti hanno ingannato la Russia stessa, promettendo di non espandere la NATO verso Est nel 1992”.

Robert Kennedy Jr. ha concluso il suo intervento indicando nella rinascita di un vasto e forte movimento per la pace una delle condizioni essenziali per scongiurare l'escalation militare, anche nucleare, della guerra in corso in Ucraina.
