3 years ago today I took a risk and left my job as an industrial electrician of 7.5 years. Most of my family will think of this day as a day to remind me that I'm a year older, some will state that it's 'Mean Girls Day' but to me it's now a pivotal point in my life where I went 'all in' on myself.

When I worked in a factory setting I truly felt like I didn't belong. I worked with people who weren't happy unless they were miserable and most of them made sure to remind me there were less toxic places to be. I was an easy target to pick on a lot of the time and I had to defend myself often with pre orchestrated comebacks I could retort with when needed.

2 years prior to quitting I had just started filming a few weddings and promotional stuff here and there because I have always had a passion for making videos since the age of 16. The reason why I never started sooner is because I lacked confidence and was afraid of judgement and failure. Right before I officially hung up the voltmeter and locked up my tool box- I was going through one of the toughest times of my life and my mental health was suffering.

When I started 'Mike Teves Films' I had the goal in mind that I would be myself full-time, share what I want, do things how I want to do them and attract the clients who appreciate me for me (and my work of course).

I'd be lying if I said I'm still not afraid of doing this. I'm constantly pushing myself out of my comfort zone even if it looks like it's easy for me (it's not. That's why I feel the need to share my struggles as much as the wins). Over the past year with the 'demic' , it has been especially hard and I've had a lot of setbacks and a lot of times I feel like I'm letting people down but I promise it's not for a lack of trying.

I am so appreciative all the opportunities and people I have been able to connect with and share my passion with over the last few years. I have no idea what the future looks like but I do know that I will always give it my all and take you along the way with me.

Thank you everyone for supporting me because I don't know if I would have the strength to do it on my own.

When making their highlight- I thought it would be so cool to include music from Crissi Cochrane since she was the live music during their ceremony. I'm always self conscious about my skills as a videographer. This time it wasn't just the couple I had to impress but also a super talented artist. I was blown away and honoured that Crissi loved it so much that she asked me to make it her official music video for her song 'Heaven'. I appreciate this opportunity to work with local artists to make projects extra special. 💜
