Dystopian Dogs has learned of the recent passing of our friend and collaborator on this project the late and great Mike Seabrook. We hope these memories hewn into this digital optic media can help preserve his legacy as an unsung but incredible musician and human being. Not only was Mike an amazing guitarist, song writer and photographer, he was also an amazing person. His passion for everything he did was awesome, he never left any detail unnoticed and approached life with an all in attitude. Getting to know him over the last year was special and we will never forget the time we spent with him.
R.I.P Mike Seabrook and Metallic Hails into eternity!
She's lives on!
One of Michigan's long lost underground heavy metal recordings is finally clawing its way out of the grave. The story began many years ago, when our friend “Maniac” Matt Halliday shared a memory of a band his dad was friends with back in the day called Agatha Bones and a tape they would listen to.
It was laughed off as nothing more than a heavy metal fever dream from a fledgling Maniac until one day, he produced photographic evidence of a logo-bearing T-shirt, kicking the hunt into full gear.
The Dystopian Dogs research team exhausted their resources, searching for any scrap of information and delving deep into the mines of Michigan metal until they were struck by a stroke of luck! Sean Peters, guitarist, tattooer, and artist extraordinaire (see Ma*****st, Lucifer's Hammer, Summon, Wastelander, Cavalcade, Dark Psychosis, etc) bumped into former AB guitar player and current Scorpions MC member, Mike Seabrook, at a tattoo convention and acquired his contact info.
From there, introductions were made and goods were exchanged. No stranger to the MI metal scene (having spent time in Ruthless Horde, Lucifer's Hammer, and Arioch) Mike provided us with a wealth of info along with a wealth of tapes and materials.
This included the Master recording session of the unreleased 1987 album, “Burn the Witch” and several other demo and rehearsal recordings.
The tapes were then meticulously transferred by savage metalaman, Jeff Savage, and newly mastered by Tim Lau of the highly influential thrash band, Sinister Black and the force behind the legendary Laud Productions.
Aided and abetted by Bryan Durren of seminal sickos, Zombified Preachers of Gore, Dystopian Dogs was able to distill a priceless horde of historic metal material into a beautifully packaged 2 CD release, featuring photos, lyrics, history, and an interview. Agatha has never looked better!
Dystopian Dogs is proud to bring you this lost masterpiece that never should have been lost: wreckless, raw, and ready for a new breed of ragers!
