Talia Serene’s Modern Renaissance ()

Talia Serene is an LA-based artist who weaves her vocals and clever lyricism into a dynamic fusion of R&B, pop, and hip-hop. She calls it “curating a renaissance”—a revival of creativity, connection, and bold self-expression.

In this episode of “10 Minute Chats,” Talia unpacks her creative ethos, the real-life inspirations behind her songs and what it’s been like collaborating with ISINA to bring her vision to life.

— You describе yourself as “a modern classic with an urban edge.” Also, your IG bio says: “Curating a renaissance.” Can you tell us more about what those mean?

💬 Those phrases really capture how I see myself as an artist and what I strive to bring to my music and creative expression. “A modern classic with an urban edge” speaks to the duality in my sound and style. I’m inspired by timeless influences like jazz, neo-soul, and R&B, but I also embrace the rawness and authenticity of hip hop culture. It’s about blending sophistication and elegance with grit and boldness, creating something that feels deeply authentic yet timeless.
“Curating a renaissance” reflects my vision to inspire others through a revival of creativity, self-expression, and connection. To me, a renaissance is about rediscovering who you are and reimagining the way you show up in the world. My music is about exploring identity, love, and growth, and I want my work to feel like a movement—a personal and collective journey toward empowerment and soulful living.

— You filmed a video for one of your songs, “Toxic,” at one of ISINA’s studios. Can you share a bit of the backstory behind the song?

💬 “Toxic” is a reflection on the highs and lows of infatuation. It’s about that irresistible pull toward something—or someone—you know isn’t good for you but feels so consuming in the moment. It’s raw and honest, capturing the push-and-pull of passion and self-awareness. I wanted the song to feel vulnerable and relatable because we’ve all experienced situations where logic gets drowned out by emotions.

“The Songwriters Hall of Fame Is the Holy Grail” — Walter Afanasieff ( )

Walter Afanasieff, ISINA mentor and the man behind some of pop music’s most iconic songs, has won two Grammy Awards during his illustrious career, including Producer of the Year, Non-Classical, and Record of the Year for his work on Celine Dion’s “My Heart Will Go On.”

This year Afanasieff received a Grammy nomination, a Primetime Emmy nomination, and won at the Hollywood Music in Media Awards—all for “Love Will Survive,” a song performed by Barbra Streisand and co-written with Hans Zimmer, Kara Talve, and Charlie Midnight.

And, earlier in November, he was also nominated for induction into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, further cementing his legacy as one of the most influential figures in music.

We spoke with Walter in an exclusive 10-minute chat to get his thoughts on these latest milestones, and what it’s like to be nominated for such honors after a long career.

— You’ve been behind some of the most iconic songs of all time. Do awards and Hall of Fame inductions still carry special meaning for you?

💬 Of course, it’s a high honor. We don’t create music just for that—we don’t do it to get nominations or awards. But when we receive one, it’s a privilege, an honor, and it’s very pleasing. Not everybody gets to be nominated for Grammys or Emmys. Actually, the hardest one, I think, is the Songwriters Hall of Fame. That, to me, is the holy grail.

I’ve been nominated [for Grammys] 14 times. Usually, those nominations come with mega-hits, like Celine Dion’s song or Mariah Carey’s, or something huge like the Aladdin or Beauty and the Beast songs....

“The Deepest Art of Performing Is Becoming a Vessel of the Music” — Meet Wenzl McGowen ()

In this candid conversation, Wenzl reflects on his journey, from sleeping on floors during early tours to creating globally recognized music, and how his collaborations — like his recent work with ISINA — align with his philosophy of authenticity and growth.

— Touring with Moon H***h and now performing as a solo artist under your own name, how has your perspective on music and performance evolved over the years?

💬 When I started touring, it was 14 years ago. I remember the first time I got an email from an agent saying he wanted to take Moon H***h on a national tour. It was paying $200 per show. We were three guys and a videographer, and somehow we pulled that off. I feel like today, that would be impossible — to tour with that little of a budget.

The way I built my fan base with Moon H***h was very organic — sleeping on floors, taking every opportunity possible. I don’t think that’s really something you can do anymore.

— How has your collaboration with ISINA and Kika Kim () on the latest project been?

💬 Honestly, it’s been great working with ISINA and Kika. I don’t think I’ve ever worked with a team this efficient and professional.

It really seems like ISINA isn’t just full of empty promises, which is a lot of record labels today. I feel like to really have value in the music industry, we have to build trends and build music and build careers that are strong and withstand the ups and downs of the industry. So I feel like it’s a good team of people at ISINA, and I get a good vibe about what they’re doing. It’s legit, and they know what they’re doing.
