The AURORA Biennial is back, this year presenting ‘FuturePresentPast’ at Dallas City Hall on November 16th.

This year, the biennial’s theme considers how looking into the past can help us shape our future. Regional and international artists experiment with sound, site-specificity, interactivity, and the digital, proposing new and varied perspectives on the region’s societal issues, engaging the audience in enriching conversations about our shared past, present, and future.

The 2024 AURORA Biennial identity is designed by North Texas creative direction studio By George Partners.

Since 2013, MONA productions has proudly worked closely with AURORA’s Executive team to realize Dallas’ signature cultural event. For more information on AURORA, check out their website:

Take a look inside this year’s must-see Dutch entry to the 60th Venice Biennale!

We created an exhibition video of ‘The International Celebration of Blasphemy and The Sacred’, presented by Renzo Martens, together with the artists’ collective Cercle d’Art des Travailleurs de Plantation Congolaise (CATPC) and curator Hicham Khalidi.

CATPC, with Renzo Martens, exhibited new artworks made from earth taken from the last remaining patches of untouched forest surrounding the plantation of Lusanga. This practice is part of their ongoing commitment that the plantation will be freed, regenerated and transformed back into sacred forests, as well as their commitment to a greater project of spiritual, ethical and economic reckoning.

Commissioned by the Mondriaan Fund, the joint exhibition by Martens, Khalidi and CATPC simultaneously opened at the White Cube in Lusanga, the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Check out our new exhibition video, commissioned by Hamburger Kunsthalle, for Jakob Kudsk Steensen’s extraordinary project, 'The Ephemeral Lake'.

Presented as part of the celebration of the 250th anniversary of the birth of Caspar David Friedrich, Steensen’s immersive spatial installation draws inspiration from the iconic Romantic painter. It examines the natural phenomenon of the ephemeral lake through 3D painting, interactive design, virtual worldbuilding and ambisonic sound.

Steensen’s exhibition is on view at Hamburger Kunsthalle until October 27th, 2024. Watch our video for an overview of the show as well as insights from the artist.

This week we’ve travelled to the much-anticipated opening of the 60th Venice Biennale to begin some exciting new documentation projects, including filming and photographing ‘When Solidarity Is Not a Metaphor’, an exhibition created by Alserkal Avenue Initiatives in partnership with Cité internationale des arts and in collaboration with Lightbox, as well as the accompanying program.

Curated by Nataša Petrešin-Bachelez, the exhibition features a diverse selection of installations, photographs, performances, listening sessions, and heart-to-heart conversations, offering a counter-space to the reigning agendas of war, patriarchy, and colonialism, and their toxic impacts on human and non-human ecosystems.

Opening tomorrow, ‘When Solidarity Is Not a Metaphor’ will take place from April 16 - 21st, 2024 at My Art Guides Venice Meeting Point, Navy Officers’ Club, Arsenale, Venice. We’ll be creating content and social media content for the project throughout the week, keep your eyes peeled on our socials for more insights into this exciting exhibition program.

The participating artists, including alumni, residents, and collaborators of both Cité internationale des arts and Alserkal Initiatives, will challenge interpretations of 'solidarity,' urging for its evolution beyond theoretical discourse.
