As winter sets in Delhi and its surrounding areas, the children from SSCF.in’s adopted community program would walk in bare feet on the cold floor during their Sunday classes. When asked if they had socks, none of them had any. This Sunday, SSCF volunteers distributed special woollen socks to keep their little feet warm while they receive tuition in maths and English.

Often people feel by reciting a mantra or phonetic syllables their problems will go away ! How can it defy the law of nature? What it can do however, is to align my intellect to the best possible solution to the problem. As my Guru simply explained - the Karam gati will play out irrespective - how we respond to it and make amends in our own response, is how the chants work. Just like any other practise - wouldn’t it be foolish to think that I can be supple enough to stand on one leg offering salutations because it’s a sacred thing to do - unless I practise and make my core strong enough to balance how will I manage the change in my body?

I had been missing Sun despite the daily sun salutations . The towering Himalayas hiding it in their folds. The meanderings of the Ganges continue as an eternal Naad! And the sun too seemingly gets lost in these mornings! I caught it today finally - rising as if in a child’s drawing - between 2 triangles peaking through. The picture perfect morning continued to unfold without filters today! How many colours can you see?

As I finished my yog asans today , alone in the house with no one around not even the help, the rays of the sun beckoned. They were playfully caressing earlier as I bent over for the veer bhadra Asan or pulled back for the surya namaskar. The fingers became lit, at times the wrists with a strong beam that now was emanating. It was only natural to sit in awe to offer my reverence. And just like that the gaze stabilised into the tratak. As the beam connected travelling through multiple layers of space, ether, atmosphere, moisture - the warmth and light consistently grew closer almost close enough to touch me, the eyes bowed and the body followed. The image lingered in the mind - the brightness coming closer. A thought flowed. Change happens in these silences these persistent silent endeavours with no one watching , without the need for validation. And just then as if on cue Alexa cut through with a message from Spotify - ‘Stay in the moment with total control over what comes next’ This was my morning today ☺️ how about you? Dr. Bhawna Sirohi spoke passionately about the transformative impact of the Ayushman Bharat scheme in our hinterlands. "I am proud to say you don’t have to spend a single penny," she emphasized, highlighting the accessibility of life-saving treatments.

Dr. Sirohi serves as the Medical Director and Senior Consultant at BALCO Medical Centre, Naya Raipur. She is the first Indian co-researcher to receive the prestigious Cancer Grand Challenges Award, with a 25 million dollar grant for Cancer Research!
