Domino was on the scene ahead of Eddie Cochrane, Buddy Holly, and Elvis when he scored a huge hit with 1955's "Ain't that a Shame". That's our starting point on this one. David L Gordon hosts a show about Rock In Opposotion on Progotron: The roots of RIO can be traced to Henry Cow, a UK progressive rock band with a distinctly avant-garde sound and left wing political ideology. Henry Cow toured extensively in Europe throughout much of the 1970s and came into contact with a few similarly inclined bands, in an ideological sense as much, if not more, than a musical one. These groups did not always have much in common stylistically, apart from a basic leaning towards fusing avant-garde qualities with elements of rock. Most of these bands were working independently at the time and had no distribution or realistic opportunity of touring outside their native countries. The idea of Rock In Opposition was to create an independent network of like-minded performers that would not be dependent on the largesse of major record companies for their survival.

After that things become All-Randall Radio with Pop Your Culture, Artist Spotlight with Cab Calloway. and Spin The Black Circle featuring AC/DC Highway To Hell.
Another big Sunday on radiogordo.net! Psychedelic nuggets at noon on West Coast Garage, followed by Stuck In The Eighties at 1pm. Rock artists had an impact on Miles Davis who generated a lot of media attention to this new jazz-rock genre with his Bi***es Brew album. From there the genre grew and exploded into numerous different directions. These bands combined elements of jazz, rock and classical music with arrangements for brass and woodwinds.
