Their practice is divided between their own line of designs, sold under the Frederick Chaffin banner, and their bespoke fabrication shop, called Daniel Chaffin Furniture Makers. Their architectural work has been featured in multiple award-winning projects, and their furniture has been the subject of a feature article in Fine Woodworking Magazine. They accept commissions for furniture and a limited
number of annual architectural engagements. Their role in these projects involves designing and building new works, either from their own drawing board or from their clients' visions. Additionally, they are frequent consultants for architects and other designers, collaborating to help resolve technical issues such as materials selection, joinery, and final construction details. Chaffin and Frederick design their pieces exclusively around regionally available hardwoods, such as American Black Cherry, Black Walnut, and White Oak. The wood used in their furniture is from carefully selected sustainable sources such as local storm-fallen trees, FSC managed forests, and client lumber stocks. They select natural finishes made from the finest plant based ingredients and their exclusive hand rubbed finishing process creates a rich, polished "in the wood" glow. Broadway, and interested parties can press their noses against the glass and see something amazing being built in the front workshop most days of the week.
