Echolocation is the literary journal produced by graduate English students at the University of Toronto and is published annually. The journal features poetry, fiction, short plays, and creative non-fiction by both emerging and established writers in Canada and across the world. Visual art, photography, critical essays, interviews, and reviews are also a vital part of Echolocation. Since 2003, Ech

olocation has published some of Canada's newest literary talent alongside some of Canada's most celebrated literary names. Past contributors have included: derek beaulieu, Linda Besner, George Elliott Clarke, Jesse Patrick Ferguson, Spencer Gordon, Katia Grubisic, Helen Guri, Steven Heighton, Ray Hsu, Heather Jessup, Sean Johnston, Mat Laporte, Pasha Malla, rob mclennan, George Murray, Steve McOrmand, Jeff Parker, Rebecca Rosenblum, Anne Simpson, Suzannah Showler, Paul Vermeersch, Samantha Warwick, and Lindsay Zier-Vogel. While our pages host both literary upstarts and literary greats, our primary aim is to promote new and emerging writers. Entirely volunteer-run, each year’s editorial board has had their own vision for the journal which builds on the initiatives of past editors. The journal is funded by the Graduate English Association and in the past has held grants from Canada Council, the Hart House Good Ideas Fund, and the Dean's Student Initiative Fund.
