Last year, had the pleasure of mentoring , the 2023 New York recipient of the Pete Carpenter Fellowship!

The fellowship, established in 1989 by iconic composer Mike Post in honor of Pete Carpenter, awards two $3,000 stipends for up to five weeks of intensive, in-studio mentorship with established composers in the Los Angeles and New York areas.

Applications for this competitive fellowship are due on July 15th - we encourage aspiring media composers to apply!

Andrew Gross recently had an amazing time presenting the Konsonant Music Film Music Seminar to FiLM iNDEPENDENT’s GLOBAL MEDiA MAKERS fellows. They discussed everything, including: music rights/licensing, the best ways to avoid TEMP LOVE and even spotting a WIP film, conducting catalog search and putting it up against picture. , thank you for supporting not just independent filmmakers, but also global independent filmmakers! In its Montana Premiere, Finding the Money explores the controversial Modern Money Theory, or “MMT”. Opening the festival is the World Premiere of 399: Queen of the Tetons, which follows 399, the most famous — and photographed — mother bear in the world, as she struggles to raise an unusually large litter in the face of human encroachment, a rapidly changing climate, and disputes over her Endangered Species protections.

The New Yorker's "Nina & Irena", directed by Daniel Lombroso and produced by Devon Blackwell will be screening on July 27th at the Museum of Jewish Heritage.

This incredibly important and beautifully poignant film tells the story of Daniel's grandmother, Nina Gottlieb, a Holocaust survivor who comes to terms with the loss of her sister who was never found after remaining silent about her experiences for 80 years.

Lombroso will be joined in conversation by Gottlieb and Andrew Marantz, a staff writer at The New Yorker, after the screening of “Nina&Irena“ to discuss the film, their experiences, and the connection to Lombroso’s work on “White Noise.”
