TIPS on how to hike cold temps.. and still enjoy it🥶⬇️
We all put in so much effort on the trails so there’s nothing worse than getting somewhere and not being able to enjoy it because you’re too cold.
So, I’m here to give you a few tips on how to stay warm and enjoy yourself as the temperatures drop:
1. Layers, layers, layers!! Make sure to wear a merino wool baselayer, which helps wick sweat and trap heat efficiently. Then, layer a fleece and a good down jacket to keep all that *glorious* heat in. You can also wear a rainshell on top if you want to block out any wind.
I wore the Transcendent Down Hoodie in the Canadian Rockies when it got down to -6C and after this trip… I truly LOVE it. Here’s why:
• It is exceptionally warm and is so soft.
• The fit is perfect. As a woman, it’s so nice to wear a slim and well-fitted down jacket.
• It’s made with 100% recycled shell and responsibly sourced 800+ fill power down.
• The left-hand pocket ingeniously doubles as a stuff sack.
• It has a ton of pockets, an adjustable drawcord at the waist, and a cozy hood.
You can shop this jacket via my stories or link in bio🤍
2. Bring a camping stove to make hot drinks and/or food. Nothing like a warm drink when you can’t feel your hands😂
3. Bring hand and/or feet warmers and gloves.
4. If that chill creeps in, do jumping jacks, walk around and move around.

What a privilege it is to sleep in places like this.
To keep these places pristine for many generations to come always follow the Leave No Trace principles—don’t know what that is?! plz google it now☺️. The BIG things to know are:
• Camp on a durable surface (aka gravel/rocks) and previously camped on spot.
• Camp away from water sources. 100-200ft depending on the area you’re recreating in.
• Pack out everything (even your toilet paper).
• Be mindful of your overall impact around you and keep it better than when you found it.
Have fun out there!!🧡🥾

Quebec, Canada in the fall is so incredibly COLORFUL😍🌈🍂
It really blows my mind—maybe because I’m born and raised on the west coast and am used to a whole lot of green🌲

Here’s how YOU can help Jasper locals⬇️
If you haven’t heard, Jasper and Jasper National Park were evacuated due to wildfires and 30% of the towns structures have sadly been destroyed. These wildfires are still burning. This has been devastating for locals, lovers of Jasper NP, wildlife, landscape …
So let’s help.
1. Donate directly to Jasper locals through .
2. Donate to . The Government of Canada and the Government of Alberta will match every dollar donated to the Alberta Wildfires Appeal. So your donation will be felt x3!!
3. Vancouverites - Donate new/gently used items that will be sent to individuals that are affected by the wildfires. is spearheading this so message her if you’d like to donate any items she is needing (list of items in her and my story).
4. Buy a print from and help support an artist who lost her entire studio in the wildfire aka her way of supporting herself. She is such a special human and her art is truly incredible.
5. Purchase a “To Jasper with Love” T- shirt from & . All proceeds are going directly to the community of Jasper.
6. Share this with your friends and family in case they want to help too🩷
7. Plan a visit to Jasper when they are ready for us! Follow to know when that time is.
If there are any other ways we can help, please comment them and I can add them to this list.
If you’re not in a place to donate financially, please share this post. Thanks everyone.

𝗟𝗜𝗙𝗘 𝗟𝗔𝗧𝗘𝗟𝗬 - aka highlights of the last few weeks here in beautiful BC (ish)
1 - Spent four days at Cariboos for my 5th group trip! More on this soon.
2 - Went to Banff for four days and forgot (?!?) just how stunning it is.
3 - Been SUPing so much that I feel like I need to invest in a electric pump😂
4 - Went backpacking with Karin to a special place I’ve been probably ten times now.
5 - The special place. This is listed in my blog post about 10 hikes in BC on angelaliggs.com. Link in bio🫡
6 - Been exploring a lot of beaches in Vancouver and been loving sunset swims in the ocean.
7 - Went hiking with my dad. Something I want to do every week of the summer, if I can.
8 - Cold water dips with my water loving man🩷
9 - Went on an overnight SUP adventure. Not going to share too much of this because we didn’t really do things “right” aka didn’t strap anything to our SUP or have many dry bags lol but it all worked out and was so fun.
10 - Brought Mike’s sister (who is visiting from Ireland) camping for the first time on said adventure⛺️ We brought a rotisserie chicken and made Greek wraps. 10/10 recommend!!
11 - Been hiking a lot on the North Shore Mountains and am forever grateful they are so close to downtown Vancouver.
if you made it this far, thanks for reading 🩷

An epic trip to add to your bucketlist👇🏼
A week of packrafting and exploring the remote (and stunning) Yukon with 🛶
There are no amount of photos or videos that I can share that would ever come close to showing you the whole experience.
Packrafting is FUN but it also challenges you—but that’s what makes it so rewarding. Safe to say, I am hooked.

Patiently waiting for Berg Lake to reopen….🥹🩵🇨🇦⛺️🥾
Truly one of my favorite backpacking trips, ever. It has been under repair for a few years due to flooding and bridges washing away. I can’t wait to go back but am happy the area is getting a much needed break from humans😊
Is Berg Lake on your hiking bucketlist?
I wrote a blog on this a few years ago — on angelaliggs.com. If it’s on your bucketlist for 2025, give it a read!🫶🏼

𝗟𝗜𝗙𝗘 𝗟𝗔𝗧𝗘𝗟𝗬💫
There’s more to me than the pretty pictures I post, and this is one of my ways of showing that! I haven’t shared a life ‘lately post’ in quite some time so here’s one from the last few weeks. I haven’t been up to too much, a lot of rest, work on my blog, family time and trying to reset after a very hectic fall + winter.
1: I went overnight camping to a campsite only accessible by boat… or kayak! It was a very rainy trip (this photo was taken in the 5 min of sun we had) but great memories were made.
2: I finally tried a doughnut from Honey’s in Deep Cove (very popular spot) and ate it under some trees while it downpoured. A very Vancouver moment. 😆
3: I got Tendonitis in my right wrist after our kayak adventure but after two weeks of rest it’s back in action.
4: I’ve been spending a lot of time at home, which has been needed. I’m curious, have you noticed I haven’t traveled in a while?
5: My partner and I snuck in a few campfires before the fire ban. Also, the video/reel from this particular night got 15 million views… which is wild. Anybody reading this follow me after seeing that video?
6: Almost done reading book two in ACOTAR!!!! And yes, I LOVE IT!
7: I HAVE A NEW NEPHEW! I love being a zia. ☺️
8: Spanish Banks in Vancouver has become my favorite spot.
9: A lot of time these last few weeks has been spent with my nonna. She is pain and hasn’t been herself lately. I’m extremely close to her so it’s been tough to see. Send her some love. Look how stunning she is at 92! 🩷
10: My bf and I said goodbye to a good friend who moved back to Ireland this week. I guess our adventures will have to continue in Europe now when we visit…😍👀

#EGPartner | Here’s what you need to know⬇️
You need to buy tickets 𝗜𝗡 𝗔𝗗𝗩𝗔𝗡𝗖𝗘 to do the Caminito Del Rey. There are self-guided and guided tickets. Self guided seems to sell out months in advance. I bought my ticket on the @expedia app, along with my flights from Vancouver and car rental.
It was so nice to have everything in one place and to earn double the points by just using the app ps. it’s free!). If you’re in the US, you’ll earn OneKeyCash which you can use on future travel/purchases on Expedia, Vrbo OR Hotels.com—which I think is the coolest thing ever. Coming soon for Canadians🤞🏼.
𝗚𝗘𝗧𝗧𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗥𝗘 & 𝗣𝗔𝗥𝗞𝗜𝗡𝗚:
🚗 It took us less than an hour to get there from Malaga. You can also take a bus or train.
⏰ Arrive at least (!!) an hour before your time slot.
🅿️ I bought one parking pass for Visitor Center Receptions Parking and then took the shuttle bus up to Ardales and Kiosko restaurant where we started our walk to the starting point. There’s also a parking lot named El Chorro, which I believe is free but it will take you longer to get to the hike starting point. I was pretty confused at the parking situation… but if you give yourself extra time you’ll be a-ok.
𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗛𝗜𝗞𝗘:
🥾 You have to take a shuttle bus from the parking lots and then will need to walk to get to the start of the hike so be sure to get their early. There’s a big sign at Ardales and Kiosko restaurant that will show you where to go. We walked along the road, through the tunnel and followed the pathway to the starting point.
💧 Bring water and a snack.
🪵 The stretch with the suspended walkways, is less than 3 kilometres long. The rest of the walk is in the mountains/forest.
💰You need cash to get a shuttle back to your car and food/drink at the end of the hike (if you want).
🌞 Summer temperatures are super hot so be mindful of that. I sug
and this is just scratching the surface….
#ExpediaAmbassador 🌊⚓️ I visited Newfoundland in early September and one thing I learnt is that it is HUGE and there is so much to do😅 So here are some tips + learnings from my trip to help you plan for your own🩵

𝗦𝗧 𝗝𝗢𝗛𝗡’𝗦 𝗧𝗜𝗣𝗦:
• STAY: in the Doubletree by Hilton — book via @expedia so you earn OneKeyCash which can be spent on future trips!
• DO/VISIT: Signal Hill, Vidi Brewery, the Battery, Dildo (an hour away), Cape Spear, and Jellybean Row.
• EAT/DRINK: St John’s Fish Exchange, Terre, Bagel Cafe, and O’Reilly’s/Shamrock City Pub (good live music).
𝗚𝗥𝗢𝗦 𝗠𝗢𝗥𝗡𝗘 𝗧𝗜𝗣𝗦:
• STAY: Ocean View Hotel right in Rocky Harbour.
• DO/VISIT: Gros Morne Mountain, Tablelands, Green Gardens, Western Brook Pond, and Noris Point.
• EAT: Java Jacks, Oceans Room, Buoy and Arrow, and The Black Spruce.
𝗢𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗥 𝗧𝗜𝗣𝗦:
• Trinity/Bonavista, Fogo Island, and Twilingate are all incredibly stops.
•You may need to book hotels in advance if you want to stay in small towns.
• Eat fresh fish and try local moose.
• The weather changes so fast and is hard to predict.
• Talk to the locals—they are what make it so special and unique.
• You need a car to get around. I booked via @expedia and it was a breeze.
• The drive to Gros Morne from St. John’s is 7/8 hours is long and there isn’t a lot of good service on the drive as well. If you have a short amount of time I suggest thinking about if it’s worth the time for you.

Send this to someone you want to go to Vancouver with🇨🇦
My boyfriend and I went on a last-minute SUP session in Vancouver last night. We ended up pulling up to a quiet beach by wreck beach to go for a swim.
when we got back on our paddle boards to go back home, we heard a whale breach in the water, not far from us. We were so close to the shoreline so I was shocked that the whale was even there.
It was incredible to be able to watch from a distance on the water, especially because it was so calm.
We tried to give it space — because, one, I’m afraid of water I can’t see into and, two, every animal deserves space to do their thing.
I think it was feeding some fish? But I really have no idea. I am not an ocean girlie.
Also, while I was watching the whale, something big jumped out of the water right behind me. I think it was a porpoise… it wasn’t as big as a whale, and it was bigger than a seal. Any ideas? I was scared😂💀
All in all.. it was such an amazing experience. So crazy that you can see an see and experience whales like this so close to downtown Vancouver. I am from BC and I will never get over it…

Some of my favorite memories are when I’m disconnected🌲🍃 Out of service and out of office✌🏼
But sometimes... as a freelance photographer and creator I need to stay connected while still being outside—and that’s when I can rely on @rogers’ strong 5G connection.
I’ve been a Rogers customer for over 12 years (which is craaaazy long). Rogers has Canada’s largest and most reliable 5G network, so I’m pretty stoked I made the right call.
So, Canadians, join me in the connected club📱

these life saving tips are worth your next 30 seconds📱‼
I will always encourage outdoor lovers to invest in a satellite phone, like a Garmin inReach Mini 2. For me, it’s the peace of mind of knowing I can update my family and boyfriend and let them know I’m safe while deep into the backcountry. It’s the ability to help a friend (or fellow hiker on the trail) if they are hurt (this is my worst fear !!). It’s the way I will always have an extra map and compass with me.
They can be pricey though (regular $400-500) and they require a monthly subscription to use—because of this, it took me a while to finally take the leap and invest in one, but now that I have it, I cannot imagine going outside with it.
If you are looking to invest in a Garmin inReach Mini 2, they do go on sale for up to $100 off so I’d keep your eyes peeled for sales. I try to share sales on my stories when I see them!
If you’re not ready to get a satellite phone or you don’t go out in the backcountry often and have an iPhone 14 or 15, I suggest learning about the Emergency SOS via Satellite.
It is an AMAZING feature that I think everyone should know about!🤯 If you go to settings > emergency sos then scroll down and tap ‘try demo’ you can go through a demo of what it would look like if you were really calling for help. Which is incredible because you’ll be prepared in case you need to use it.
Make sure you have a clear view of the sky when you do this demo and follow the on-screen instructions to practice connecting your iPhone to a satellite.
It’s important to note that this is feature is only available in some countries, like US, Canada, New Zealand, Australia and some countries in Europe.
I’m a big Apple girl and this feature makes me love them even more.

My story (so far)...
My most asked questions are related to how I got to where I am today. I had no intention of going down this path or knew what an ‘influencer’ was growing up—but I’m so grateful I fell into this. For as long as I can remember, I’ve always been an outdoor-lover, thanks to my dad. He always took my sisters and I on camping trips and hikes mostly around our home province. After high school, I started hiking and backpacking almost every chance I got with any friends who would go with me. For the next five years, I went to university where I earned a degree in Communications. It took me one year longer than normal because I went on two multi-month backpacking trips with my best friends—one to Europe and the other to South East Asia and New Zealand.
These trips opened my eyes to how much I loved traveling the world, exploring new places, hiking and even the little moments in between. I went to 15 countries before I turned 22 and I didn’t want to ever stop. I ate my way through Italy, sailed across islands in Croatia, soaked up the sun in Greece, learnt about a culture I knew nothing about in Turkey, danced every night in Spain, hiked as much as my legs would take in New Zealand, learnt about the history in Cambodia, rode motorcycles in Vietnam and more. I always had a part-time job while in school so that I could save money to travel. I’ll say now that I was very privileged and was supported by my parents. I didn’t have a massive student loan looming over my head like many friends I knew. The money I made was put right into my ‘travel fund’ and I know that not everyone has the opportunity to do that. After I graduated, my passion for hiking and travel only became stronger. Thankfully I live in beautiful British Columbia where the hiking is never-ending
I worked full-time in a few different roles—at my step dad’s law firm, Red Bull and, most recently, lululemon. During this time, 2015-2018, I slowly gained followers on Instagram. It was the only account I had and it was made to share photos so my friends and family could see what I was up to. It was shocking to see people following me and liking my photos. My account growing was a very gradual process and I never made it a big deal. My audience kept growing and it wasn’t until my older sister sat me down after I came back from New Zealand where she explained to me that I had an opportunity at hand. An opportunity to grow a community online, inspire thousands to get outside and potentially make money doing it. After this conversation, I put much more effort into my Instagram.
That meant producing more content, practicing photography, meeting new people, learning about the business and so much more. Fast forward to 2018 where I was working full-time at lululemon and putting in all the energy I had left into my Instagram. All my time went into these two jobs. Juggling a social life, staying present with my family and going to the gym regularly was a struggle—and to this day, I don’t understand how I did it. At this point, my Instagram was generating the same amount of money, if not more, as my 9-5 job. I didn’t sleep much, I worked weird hours just to put in my full day at lululemon and went on road trips to Washington, Oregon and Alberta (even if I only had a couple days off). By the end of 2018, it was getting to be too much.
So many people that are freelancers say they hated their 9-5 job, the desk they were ‘chained to’ and couldn’t wait to leave. This wasn’t the case for me. It was the complete opposite in fact. I was on the social media team at lululemon, surrounded by inspiring people, I learnt so much every day, was captivated by the culture… I loved it. When I graduated university, I had no idea what my career path was supposed to be, but once I got to lululemon I knew I was heading in the right direction. Did I really want to throw that away for the unknown of freelance photography? I didn’t know this world or what was going to happen and it was nerve-racking for me.
Well, in early 2019, as you could’ve guessed, I took the leap and quit my job. I couldn’t have done it without the support and encouragement from my family and my friends—both my long-time friends and the friends I met via Instagram who were already crushing the freelance life. I thought I needed more time to get ready to quit, but I realized that I probably wouldn’t ever feel ready.
At this point, companies were reaching out to me more than I was reaching out to them—and it was really, really exciting. Now, I make a living off of social media promotion (via Instagram), content creation for brands, affiliate marketing via my blog, photo licensing and modelling. I collaborate with brands, like REI, Eddie Bauer, KLM, Fitbit, NIVEA, Twitter, Budweiser, 20th Century Fox, and tourism boards, like Visit California, Travel Alberta and Discover South Carolina. I am currently expanding my blog and finding new revenue streams to support myself. The learning never ends—which is a beautiful part in all of this.
Thank you to each and every one of you for the support. It means a lot that you’re here and want to learn more about my journey. I wouldn’t be here without you. If you’re interested in a career in travel photography, content creation and/or blogging, check my blog for tips I’ve learnt along the way.
