11 months ago, I moved to the UK with my family—a tough decision given my deep roots in the South African music scene. From running Stay True Sounds full time to broadcasting every Sunday at SABC, my journey has been a significant one.
In life, we must make big choices not only for ourselves but also for those around us. This new life of mine saw me taking on the role of Director of Music at Defected Records. It was a leap of faith, and my new boss, the newly appointed co-owner and CEO Wez Saunders, didn't know much about me initially but has carved out a space for me to be me, and do what I do best.
Wez , who had never set foot in South Africa, decided to explore it with me for the past six days.
Opening up my phone book, I worked to showcase the world I left behind in SA, seizing the opportunity to share my life in music.
The stars aligned, and these past few days served as a reminder of my purpose. Wez and I connected with the pulse of the South African House music scene, and now he understands what our music means to all of us.
It's evident that our vibrant space has inspired Wez, and together with Defected we are going to create more opportunities for our music scene to be exposed to a global audience.
We're on it. Trust. 🤞🏻

Too many beautiful moments from this past weekend at Defected Records Malta📍

On Friday night myself and DJ Kitty Amor hosted some of our favorite South African artists including Atmos Blaq Fka Mash & Culoe De Song on the first ever international Stay True Sounds stage 🇿🇦

Saturday and Sunday were filled with brilliance across the dance spectrum hosted and curated with perfection by Defected crew.
