The Old & Weary Car Shop, Inc. (Red Pump Junction) In addition they operated the Red Pump Junction a model train shop as part of their operation.

The Old & Weary Car Shop was established in March of 1986 and was primarily operated from my home through magazine advertising and attending train shows. At the same time my uncle and father operated their nursery business in Tappan (where I worked) called Red Pump Nursery. They mainly sold Large Scale, O, O27 model trains and some HO and N. In 2000 after 40 years in business my father and uncle d

ecided to retire. The closing of the nursery business also signaled the closing of the train store. Seeing how their business grew I could not see it ending so I decided to expand my operation and move into my own store. The Old & Weary Cars Shop's new store opened on May 19th, 2001 and has received a warm welcome by everyone whom has stopped in. We have had visits from customers from as far as Arizona and California stop in while in the area. This is rewarding, I look foreword to seeing more and more faces connected with names. Things are moving along smoothly. We have expanded our inventory which, now includes all of the major manufacturers of N, HO, S, O and Large Scale model trains. It is impossible to stock everything, we have access to just about everything produced. We are currently a Lionel, MTH, S-Helper Service, Atlas O, Learning Curve Thomas, Hobbystores, Walthers, Horizon and Hobbytyme Dealer. I stock a large variety of local railroad history book titles... with much more to come.

Directions: The OWCS is located in the Hamlet of Tappan, Rockland County, New York in the extreme south east corner of the county on the New York and New Jersey boarder. approximately 18 miles from Manhattan From The New York State Thruway, take exit 13 South (Palisades Parkway) to exit 5 south (Route 303 Tappan) After second traffic light (Oak Tree Rd.) get in the center left/right lane, turn left into Tappan Plaza Shopping Center. The OWCS is two doors to the right of Foodworld. Travel time from Thruway 10 minutes. From New York City and New Jersey take the Palisades Parkway to exit 5 south Tappan and follow the directions above. From secondary roads in New Jersey, Livingston Street in Northvale turns into 303 at the state line. In golf terms the store is "a 5 iron" from the boarder.
