Our biggest event on our calendar is only 1 week away! Gates open from 7am racing to start from 9am, $5 gate entry, kids under 12yrs free, Food truck, Buck n Bar, Live music (half time). Camping available.

When gold was found by an Aboriginal boy in 1871, Charters Towers became the richest city in Queensland and second largest after Brisbane. Boasting a stock exchange, grand buildings & houses, fine shops, wide streets, electricity, gaslights, telegraph and the telephone – it had everything. Residents nicknamed their town “The World.”

Whitbreads Softdrinks and Cordials are excited to announce the expansion of the business with the recent purchase of The Northern Miner building (73 Gill Street) Charters Towers. Over the coming few months we will be upgrading the site to welcome patrons to our new retail store and soda bar. The project aims to highlight and showcase the rich history of the town and provide an interactive and engaging trip into yesteryear. The building is steeped in history, having produced the local newspaper from 1905- 2020, with many relics of the past still within the red brick walls. Watch this space!!

WATER PARK READY TO OPEN TO COMMUNITY

The date for the Charters Towers Water Park Grand Opening has been set.

The Water Park will be officially opened on Saturday, 18 February 2023 and the community is invited to help celebrate the occasion and join in the fun, with entry available via Water Street.

Along with the official unveiling of a plaque, the morning’s activities, which are set to occur from 9:30am – 11:30am, will include something for everyone, with free snow cones, popcorn, coffee, cupcakes, and sausage sizzle on offer.
