Friends and Partners,

At Musokotwane Compassion Mission Zambia - MCMZ we realize that the 2023-2024 farming season droughts which destroyed over 1.3 Million Hectares of maize fields is a threat to our communities curbing violence and against women and children.

The Choma Small Scale Farmers Field Day is set as a model household food security strategy which can be adopted by the three thousand peasant and small scale farmers delegates who will attend this event on the 13th July, 2023 with each having access to under a hectare irrigated field.

Eventually, under a hectare of irrigated fields per household across Choma, Southern, Zambia will mean improved much needed nutritional foods for pregnant mothers and children, improved children's health, improved school attendance and performance for rural schools going children, increased district household food security, and reduced violence against women and children in Choma.

We are alive to the fact that food security at household level reduces the chances of women and children from enduring hunger, poverty and violence. The reduction in the prevalences of these vices positively contributes towards our country attaining the Sustainable Development Goals.

To everyone partnering in the actualizing of this event, we want to assure you that, you're not only participating in an event but contributing to the betterment of women and children in greatest need in Choma district in a sustainable way beyond the event.

To sponsor this event, exhibition of mechanized farming equipments, and demo plots planting email: [email protected]

We are happy to monitor your crop and stands from now till the 13th July, 2024. Click email button

DAR-ES-SALAAM, 14/12/2023:

Musokotwane Compassion Mission Zambia (MCMZ) Executive Director, Sibbuku Genious Musokotwane says the Zambian agriculture sector has huge untapped potential to meet the East African demand for white maize and other crop produce through enhanced mechanisation of the sector and foreign partnerships in utilising the land for crop production.

Speaking when he paid a courtesy call on the Zambian Deputy High Commissioner to the Republic of Tanzania, Ambassador Anthony Bwalya at the Zambian Mission in Dar-es-salaam, Mr. Musokotwane said he is in the country to explore new market in East Africa.

"...I have noticed the region has huge potential for first grade white maize and other farm produce. I am here to ensure that what we produce at our farms back home has an available market beyond the borders of Zambia," he said. "I also want to guarantee would be partners of assured market and also government support."

He added that as an organization, MCMZ has a running three year strategic plan that covers 2022 to 2025 and aimed at Agricultural Machanization as a strong tool for enhanced response against child marriage and contribution towards achieving the Zambian government's agenda for zero child marriage by the year, 2030 through food security and reduced donor reliance for projects implementation and sustainability.

Mr. Musokotwane further informed the Ambassador that MCMZ is ready to work with anyone that wishes to partner with it, with farm machinery and inputs to enhance production.

Meanwhile, Mr Bwalya said the agricultural sector will only thrive and achieve its full potential through partnerships such as what MCMZ is embarking on building with the Private sector.

RUVIT INVESTMENTS DONATES TOWARDS FIGHT TO END CHILD MARRIAGE

LUSAKA, 25/07/2023: RUVIT Investments today donated K7000 to the Musokotwane Compassion Mission Zambia (MCMZ), a Choma based non profit and youth led organisation that has, since its inception, being fighting child marriages in Zambia.

Ruvit Investments managing director, Vitaris Masopo who invited and hosted the MCMZ at his office today, to understand and appreciate some of the organisations' challenges in its response to ending child marriages, said his company will continue to support efforts that seek to fight and correct social ills.

Mr Masopo took time to share with the team his company's policy on corporate social responsibility as one that directly speaks to the cause being championed by MCMZ.

"I am a villager who has thrived through the opportunity of education and it is an individual conviction that if more girls stayed long in school, we could alleviate chances of rural girls enduring poverty and hunger," he said.

Mr Masopo added that it is Ruvit Investments desire to see to it that rural girls are given an opportunity to a fulfilled childhood with equal access to health, education and economic opportunities.

"...that is why we are making this donation to the Musokotwane Compassion Mission Zambia to ease operations, especially in the retrieval of girls from child marriages," he said.

And MCMZ executive director, Sibbuku Genious Musokotwane thanked Mr Masopo and Ruvit Investments for the good gesture and disclosed that the donation will go towards the purchase and maintenance of a vehicle that will be used in the retrieval of child brides, which is mostly in the remotest areas.

"As MCMZ, we are grateful for having invited and hosted us here. This money will go a long way, as you may be aware, most of our programmes involve travelling to the remotest parts just to retrieve these girls," he said. "This Will boost and also give us even more encouragement to continue doing what we have been doing all these years."

Mr Musokotwane said this will go a long way in ensuring the organisation’s response against child marriage remains intact. He also called on other like minded organisations and the business community to come on board and supplement its efforts.

*WE ARE IN THIS TOGETHER - HH*

President Hakainde Hichilema writes below...

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you People of Mwinilunga, North Western Zambia.

We are your servants and we are doing everything possible to better lives and we have no doubt in mind that Zambia will be better.

Jobs and business opportunities are our preoccupation and YES, we are delivering and we will continue to do so.

Our vision is that of decentralisation and taking National resources to that child in rural Kasenseli, Kashinakazhi among other places and this is evidenced by the increment in CDF.

Together we can and we will do more as it is not about what Hakainde can do but what we can do together.

During campaigns we promised that fruits will be processed within the country so that jobs are created and kept and YES, we are on this path. Value addition mwani.

Fellow citizens. Time for "them against us" is long gone. It is now time for us all to unite and turn our country into a productive house.

We are leaving no stone unturned during this quest for development and this is why we are saying: WE ARE IN THIS TOGETHER AND SO, LET'S ALL GET INVOLVED AND GET IT SOLVED.

Mwani ba Mwinilunga this is not time to throw away that pineapple fruit but plant more and earn an income out of it as we are creating an enabling business environment.

This was our address to the People of Kabanda ward in Mwinilunga earlier today.

Zambia is getting better and indeed will be better.

Once more. Lesa wa mwi ulu amipeshe mwani.

Hakainde Hichilema
President of the Republic of Zambia.

President HH writes,

"I have instructed the Minister of Finance, Dr Musokotwane to request parliament to approve a supplementary budget of about K22 billion arising from financial prudence. This makes 2022 budget circa K195bn as opposed to K123bn in the previous year.

This extra generated revenue will be used to increase funding towards fertiliser support programme, dismantle arrears for suppliers and contractors, payment of retirees and more road construction. The resources have been allocated to benefit our citizens and generate more revenue as opposed to lavish lifestyles in private jets, VXs, and outright looting.

We said Zambia had resources, what was missing was prudent management of resources. We therefore hope your MPs will support the supplementary budget.

It's NOT nkongole, it's surplus, elyashi.

273 ROAD TRAFIC ACCIDENTS RECORDED DURING 2022 HEROES AND UNITY HOLIDAY

By Flavior Kanungo

273 road traffic accidents were recorded during this year's Heroes and Unity holiday compared to 317 with Lusaka recording the highest number at 108.

Zambia police spokesperson Rae Hamoonga says of the 273, 20 were Fatal where 21 persons were killed, 41 were serious road traffic accidents in which 70 persons were seriously injured, 59 were Slight road traffic accidents in which 80 persons were slightly injured and 153 road traffic accidents were recorded as damage only.

Mr Hamoonga said the figures show a reduction by 44 road traffic accidents
and a decrease by 10 fatal road traffic accidents as well as a slight reduction in serious road traffic accidents by one.

He said the reduction in road traffic accidents during Heroes and Unity Holiday of 2022 as compared to 2021 can be attributed to compliance by road users especially motorists.

"The section engaged some major stake holders for joint operations during this holiday to ensure that all motor vehicles which are not roadworthy and road traffic offenders were brought to book," Mr Hamoonga said.
