Green Home Hero The staff for the Green Home Hero Award program is dedicated to helping homeowners save energy. Last year, in conjunction with the U.S.

The Green Home Hero Award grew out of our work at EfficiencyPA on providing information about energy assessments, rebates, incentives, tax credit and loan programs on behalf of utility programs. Department of Energy, we successfully piloted the Home Energy Score program in Western Pennsylvania. Out of 100 homes entered in our energy efficiency competition, 15 received free HES assessment, and five

homes were selected for "Green Home Hero" awards for this region. Using this as a spring board, we would like to cast a wider net in 2012 and highlight Green Home Hero Awards based on results of energy audit reports like HERS Scores, Green Energy Compass, LEED Reports, and others, in addition to the DOE's Home Energy Score. A home's other green features, like use of solar energy or green construction will be considered separately.

Greenhomehero.com is the primary mode of communicating, but the organization also sponsors an annual green home showcase and we participate in many events and direct mail and outreach campaigns throughout the year.
