BMIR (Burning Man Information Radio), the Voice of the Man, can be found on 94.5FM in Black Rock City and streaming live from the burn at http://bmir.org. For year round audible magic, please visit our sister station, Shouting Fire via http://ShoutingFire.com.

BMIR is YOUR community resource and the best outlet to deposit information directly into the gray matter of the citizens of BRC. Now that camp placement has gone out, it is the perfect time to create a promo telling everyone all about your camp shenanigans, art installation(s), unicorn parade, flaming tetherball court, and/or other events. We would LOVE to have yours in hand before we leave for the playa! If someone in your camp is an audio whiz, they can send us your promos at any time.

Not sure how to record something ahead of time? No worries! We have put together a tutorial for you using the Bandlab app, which you can download straight to your smartphone.

The tutorial can be found here: BMIR_Bandlab and focuses on recording using a smartphone.

Once you have something recorded or if you have any questions, please email your promo before Sunday, August 18th, 11:59 pm, your time zone, to : [email protected]

(We cannot guarantee any promos will be accepted after the August 18th deadline, but we will try our best to accommodate late submissions.)

, BMIR Project Manager here to share a little story. This pic was sent to us by our dear friend Dimitre last night. Itโ€™s from 2008 in the BMIR production booth. On the right is Zeus, the OG Project Manager of BMIR for its first decade of existence (We love you Zeus!). On the left is the late great Tom LaPorte, aka Lost Tom. Back in 2008 Tom wrote the original safety contingency plan for rain in BRC, a document of which included the extensive utilization of BMIR. That was my 3rd year involved with BMIR, and I was personally involved alongside a couple others (Hi Carmen, hi Bob) to make sure our team was always prepared for moments like this. Welp. It finally happened. It was a LOT. AND. We did it, on the fly, with the most talented group of humans ever assembled, and we are stronger and closer than ever. Seriously, if you know any of us at all you know we all love to talk about how amazing our team is and the family vibes we have. Weโ€™re forever grateful for the citizens of Black Rock City for trusting us with your eardrums, and even more grateful to Lost Tom for all he gave our city, culture, and silly little radio station. Personally, Iโ€™m grateful for anyone thatโ€™s ever been a part of this crazy experiment and has given us their blood, sweat, tears, and ideas!

PS - in Tomโ€™s later years, he would always show up at BMIR on the verge of exhaustion and overheating because he didnโ€™t know how to stop serving BRC in some way or another. We started setting up a bed for him in the back of our production trailer so that if we saw him we could offer him a cool and comfortable place to lay his head. Since then, our Production container has been named The Tom LaPorte Presidential Suite. ๐Ÿ’œ
