Today, Region 3 HCC successfully completed its annual medical response surge exercise, effectively testing our coalition's capacity and capabilities in responding to a chemical medical surge event. The HCC demonstrated exceptional participation, communication, and scenario management. I extend gratitude to District 5's Local Preparedness Team, our HPP coordinator, Region 1 RMRS, and members of the Southwest Incident Support Team for augmenting MERC staff during the exercise. The MERC's success is contingent upon our outstanding HCC and valued supporting partners. Thank you, your contributions are deeply appreciated. 💙

During today’s RMPG we saluted Sam's retirement from his Southwest Regional Emergency Manager post, emotions mingled. Twenty years of steadfast service to the HCC showcased his exceptional leadership and devotion. We take comfort knowing his wisdom remains accessible, just a call away. We also have to give thanks to his amazing wife Sandy as she was always by his side and an amazing partner to the HCC.

Another successful REMSS conference has concluded, and we eagerly anticipate the opportunities that next year will bring. Our coordinator, Lizzy, served as a judge for the triage station at the Murph games and co-instructed Medical Branch Operations with Jeff Parks on day two. The event was a productive blend of camaraderie, enjoyment, and education.

Unfortunately we are going to be dealing w/ triple digit heat index values today. Temperatures are expected to climb into the 90s w/ max heat index values of 100-104 expected across parts of the area. Take precautions to prevent heat related illnesses.
