- Balance + Symmetry: In some cases, you have objects that are a bit too many and it does not line up perfectly, there are some ways that you can create a design that will still look appealing even if there is something slightly off balance.
- Negative Space: We know that sometimes you feel the need to cover every single available space on a design, however this can feel a bit over crowded and that is when you can use the "less is more" law and make use of negative space.

It's always great picking up a new skill and learning a new program, however, sometimes these programs can be a little pricey. Here are some free alternatives you can use while learning and picking up some new skills.
Adobe Illustrator is a vector-based program. Gravit, is an online program with a free and paid version. The tools and interface are the most similar to Illustrator. Inkscape is another alternative to Ilustrator. It is completely free and an open-source program. You can also use the free version of Canva to read and edit vector graphics. However, Canva has limited editing capabilities for vectors.
Gimp is the closest free program you will find to Photoshop. It has many editing capabilities to edit and manipulate images, however, it does not render as well as Photoshop.
Are you looking to edit and manipulate videos? PowerDirector is a great free resource to use for editing videos and animations. This free app also has a paid version to gain templates and more features.

There are many different types of website builders on the market today. Two of the most popular ones are Wix and WordPress. Here are a bit more about each to help you decide which one to use for your next Website.
If you want something simple and easy to use, Wix is for you. It's simple to use with many built-in templates and the website builder has a drag-and-drop interface. Wix does not require a lot of coding and technical knowledge, with the free option you can also receive a default domain, we suggest publishing you're website with a premium domain and Wix hosting to make it professional.
WordPress is a free-to-use platform and can be installed using many different hosting platforms. WordPress has many different editing and customisation plugins that can be used to create the perfect website. With plugins such as Divi, Elementor and Gutenberg Blocks, you can also have a drag-and-drop interface that is easy to use. A few features within WordPress require a bit more technical knowledge than Wix.

Alignment is one of the most basic, but most important principles of design, as it allows our eyes to see order, which is quite comforting to a reader. There are three types of alignment in design: Left, right and centre.
Repetition strengthens a design by tying together otherwise separate parts, and as a result, creates associations. By repeating elements of a design, you immediately create a familiarity or identity.
Contrast is the most effective way to create emphasis and impact with your design. Contrast is created when two elements are total opposites, for example: big and small, or dark and light.
In design, hierarchy creates a visual organisation to a design and gives the reader an idea of where to begin and finish reading.
Balance provides stability and structure to a design, either through symmetry or tension of elements. Balance is the weight distributed on the page by the placement of elements.

We created a one-page website for DevsOnDemand, they connect their clients with high-skilled developers who can assist them with all their development needs.
We wanted to keep the style clean and high-tech, so we used a strong blue and contrasted it with some white to keep the design modern. The use of shapes and animations keeps with the tech theme, but also makes the design interesting and a little playful.
