With a heavy heart we had to shut down KCR a few weeks ago. We just never saw the listener numbers to justify the high monthly cost of maintaining the Internet stream.

It was a simple concept, provide a free digital venue for local musicians and bands to be heard when there are limited options in the local area. Have the artists promote the station to their friends, family, and fans and then those folks share the station as well.

In the meantime, produce and air for free advertising spots for locally owned small businesses and have those small businesses promote KCR in their social media feeds.

It seemed like such a simple yet creative way to help others at no cost to themselves. We gave KCR a healthy period of time to prove itself but it didn't succeed.

TRAFFIC ALERT: Throughout the week TXDOT crews and other contractors will be performing road maintenance operations on U.S. Highway 77 (Business) between County Road 12 and County Road 4, in Bishop, Tx, and beyond into Kelberg County.

There will be multiple lane closures and possible detours throughout the week, which may cause travel delays.

Please use caution when traveling on U.S. Highway 77 (Business) this week, especially when passing work crews and equipment.

If possible, seek alternative routes of travel.

Heads up.

Heads up.

Good morning, Happy Saturday. We've got some bad news, as of May 10th, Kingsville Community Radio will no longer be broadcasting its Internet stream.

We're having to take some drastic cost-cutting measures for the store and unfortunately, KCR is one of the first cuts. It was fun while it lasted.

Thanks,
Tom & Jill

BISHOP POLICE DEPARTMENT CELEBRATES OUR HEROES BEHIND THE HEADSET, AS WE KICK OFF NATIONAL PUBLIC SAFETY TELECOMMUNICATORS WEEK APRIL 10-16, 2022:

Do you ever wonder who answers the call when you dial 911? Most people only know them as the voice on the other end of the line when they have an emergency! Which is why National Public Safety Telecommunications Week (observed every second week in April) has been set aside to recognize and celebrate the important work of Public Safety Telecommunicators, who save countless lives every day.

If it weren’t for public safety telecommunicators flawlessly doing their jobs, millions of lives would have been lost, due to untimely responses or inadequate resources sent to assist. Therefore, throughout this week, we will highlight, honor, and thank those behind the scenes first responders; who give their all to serve in this demanding and often under appreciated profession.

Thank you for always answering the call!
