My Featured Saint - SAINT BRIGID OF KILDARE
St. Brigid of Kildare or St Brigid of Ireland is the Patroness Saint of Ireland, and one of its three national saints along with St Patrick and St. Columba. St Brigid was born in Site of Battle of Faughart - 1318, Ireland. St. Brigid is also said to have miraculously changed water into beer for a leper colony and provided enough beer for 18 churches from a single barrel.
My Featured Saint - SAINT JOSEPH
St. Joseph is the Patron Saint of the Universal Church, families, fathers, expectant mothers, travelers, immigrants, house sellers, and buyers, craftsmen, engineers and working people, among others. Pope Pius IX proclaimed St. Joseph the Patron of the Universal Church in 1870. Having died in the "arms of Jesus and Mary" according to Catholic tradition, he is considered the model of the pious believer who receives grace at the moment of death, in other words, the Patron of a happy death.
My Featured Saint - SAINT ANGELA MERICI
St. Angela was a Franciscan Tertiary and in a vision God showed her that she would start an order that would serve Him and care for the well being of souls. She gathered twelve close friends and began the Ursuline Sisters, the first teaching order of women established in the Church. St. Angela was beatified on April 30, 1768 by Pope Clement XIII and canonized on may 24, 1807 by Pope Pius VII. St. Angela is often attributed with a cloak and ladder. She is the Patron Saint of sickness, disabled and physically challenged people, and those grieving the loss of parents.

St. Sebastian is a popular male Saint, especially today among athletes. In medieval times, he was regarded as a Saint with a special ability to intercede to protect from plague, and devotion to him greatly increased when plague was active. He is commonly depicted in art and literature tied to a post or tree and shot with arrows. The artistic depiction of St. Sebastian is considered symbolic of the virtues and gifts of strength, stamina, perseverance, courage and justice in the face of adversity.

St Prisca was a child martyr born to Christian parents of noble birth during the reign of roman Emperor Claudius. In Romans 16:3, St. Paul says "not only I, but all of the Churches of the Gentiles are grateful for (St. Priscila and Aquila)." Their lives were testimonies of God's faithfulness to the refugee, the worker, the obedient, and the wise. And around the Mediterranean, their work was recognized.

St. Margaret of Hungary was a Dominican Nun, whose parents were the King and Queen of Hungary. They vowed to give their child to religion if their land was purified of oppressors occupying it. She was given to the Dominican Monastery at the age of four.
My Featured Saint - SAINT MARIAM BAOUARDY
St. Mariam Baouardy was born on January 5th 1846 at Ibillin, a village in the Holy Land near Nazareth. Her parents were Greek Catholics in a predominantly Muslim area. They were both persecuted for their faith and George spent some time in prison. Their first 12 children, all boys, died in infancy so they decided to go on pilgrimage to Bethlehem, to beg Our Lady for a daughter and they promised to call her Mariam.

St. John is the Patron Saint of love, loyalty, friendships, and authors. He is often depicted in art as the author of the Gospel with an eagle, symbolizing "the height he rose to in his Gospel." In other icons, he is shown looking up into Heaven and dictating his Gospel to his disciple.

My Featured Saint - SAINT JUDE THADDEUS
St. Jude was one of the original Twelve Apostles of Jesus Christ according to the New Testament. He is the reputed author of the Canonical Letter of Jude that warns against the licentious and blasphemous heretics. He is one of the brothers of Jesus. Aside from being the Patron Saint of lost causes, St. Jude is a symbol of choosing faith when all seems lost. In fact, throughout the Gospel, St. Jude stood as a Pillar of Faith and died in an act of Martyrdom which is why he is often depicted as carrying the image of Jesus.
My Featured Saint - SAINT POPE JOHN PAUL II
St. John Paul II was adopted as the Patron Saint of Catholic Sports when he was not yet declared a Saint. At the time, when he was a Blessed. Pope John Paul II was the Head of the Catholic Church and Sovereign of the Vatican City State from 1978 until his death in 2005. He was elected Pope by the Second Papal Conclave of 1978, which was called after John Paul I, who had been elected in August to succeed Pope Paul VI, who had died after 33 days.

My Featured Saint - SAINT MARGARET OF HUNGARY
St. Margaret was an incredibly pious Roman Catholic. One of her most significant achievements was to establish a crossing point on the Firth of Forth for pilgrims on their way to St. Andrew's Cathedral. Boats worked the "Queen's Ferry" from the 11th century all the way through to 1964, when the Forth Road Bridge was opened.
She chastised herself from early childhood, wore an iron girdle, hair-shirts, and shoes spiked with nails. She later also would perform the dirtiest tasks in the monastery. As a Dominican religious St. Margaret practiced a life of extreme ascetism and stalwart service to the poor.
