Starting a podcast to increase leads
If you start a podcast to increase leads, I'd focus on making sure your content is VALUABLE to your ideal customers.
Here's the questions I'd start with when putting together a new business podcast:
1. What do you sell?
2. Who are your primary sales targets?
3. What topics would deliver value to them as listeners?
4. Who would you interview to deliver that value?
Guests are the value of a B2B podcast
The biggest ROI you will get from your business's podcast is the relationships you create with your guests. It's led to:
- Sales
- Referrals
- Friendships
- Business guidance
Don't get caught up on the download numbers when you start your business's podcast.
If you miss out on where the real value is, you'll give up and join the podcast graveyard đź’€
1 Tip for Better Podcast Interviews
Ask your guest what they'd like to discuss.
One thing that's made my podcast interviews comfortable for guests is that I always ask the question: "What would you like to talk about on the show?"
Now they have some time to prepare, and the chance of getting nervous when you go live decreases dramatically.
Here's a process I'd recommend:
1. Do some research on your guest via LinkedIn, Website, etc.
2. Develop a handful of questions or topics for the show
3. Send the questions their way via email or call
4. Ask them what they'd like to talk about during the interview
5. Add their points to the list and send the revised questions
If you're new to podcasting and not sure what you would ask of your guests, start here.
You may find their interests are more interesting that what you originally put together.
Give it a shot and let me know how it goes.

“We were working 7 days a week for the first month and a half at the processing facilities and the hauling divisions.”
“Our employees were fantastic during this process. They wanted to be there. They wanted to get on the road.”
It was a fascinating dive into the topic and we're glad we could capture it on the show. Check out the full episode here: https://youtu.be/hufXvvgfDaE
1 Mistake I See Businesses Make
I see businesses make this mistake all the time:
Nobody from the company is using LinkedIn to promote the business and help the sales team.
I've been searching through thousands of businesses in the past few months and there are tons of companies that are difficult to learn about because their employees don't post.
Unless your website is perfect and answers every potential customer or job candidate question, you may be missing out on an opportunity to connect with someone who will buy from you or help your company move forward.
Keep the process simple and consistent
Want to avoid failure when releasing video content?
Then keep your process simple and consistent.
A complicated process will become overwhelming very quickly the amount of time you spend creating videos won't have the ROI you're looking for.
An inconsistent process won't yield the results you're looking for and you'll most likely give up.

Why don't you see new banks starting?
"About 15 years ago there were ~750 banks based in Florida. Today there's ~70."
Since the minimum capital required to start a bank is roughly 4x higher than it was 15 years ago, you'll see less new banks opening.
