Well deserved! Congratulations Kimo, from the team as SOS Live - with OMEGA !!!

Communications has taken a significant turn with you at the helm. A fantastic job, and we look forward to your continued success and accomplishments as the consummate professional you are!

KIMO TYNES APPOINTED AS DIRECTOR OF COMMUNICATIONS

The Office of the Deputy Governor is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Kimo Tynes as the Director of Communications within the Communications Directorate in the Office of the Premier and Public Policy.

Mr. Tynes is a seasoned communications professional with a distinguished background in international communication. Holding a Master's in International Communication & Development from City, University of London, United Kingdom, a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) from York University, Toronto, Canada, and an Associates of Arts Degree from Camosun College, Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, he brings a wealth of experience and academic excellence to his new role.

Since October 2022, Mr. Tynes has served as the Deputy Director of Communications, showcasing his exceptional skills in delivering communication strategies aligned with government priorities. His ability to manage reputational risks, exercise sound judgment, and provide authoritative leadership to his team has been evident. Mr. Tynes consistently aligns communication delivery to secure government objectives, utilizing media and marketing strategies, internal communication, and stakeholder engagement to inform critical audiences.

Before joining the Communications Directorate, Mr. Tynes served as the Consular Officer for the Turks and Caicos Islands Government in London from 2015 to 2022. He also held the position of Senior Public Relations Officer for the former Turks and Caicos Tourist Board, bringing valuable insights from both the public and private sectors.

Reflecting on his appointment, Mr. Tynes stated: “William Shakespeare wrote in the play As You Like It, 'All the world’s a stage, And all the men and women merely players; They have their exits and their entrances; And one man in his time plays many parts.'

I am grateful for the opportunity to serve my country and play my part at this stage of national development and in my life. It is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and perseverance that has brought me to where I am today. I am grateful for the unwavering support of my family and friends, and I am proud of myself for the strength of character and resilience that have enabled me to overcome every challenge. In life, nothing happens before its time. As I continue this journey, I am confident I have what it takes to succeed and make a positive impact. I remain thankful. May God bless our Turks and Caicos Islands.”

Commenting on Mr. Tynes' appointment, Head of the Public Service and Deputy Governor, Her Excellency Anya Williams, stated: "I’m elated to congratulate Mr. Kimo Tynes on his appointment as the Director of Communications within the Communications Directorate in the Office of the Premier and Public Policy.

This is a significant achievement for the Turks and Caicos Islands Government as Mr. Tynes will serve as the first Director of the Communications Directorate since its establishment in 2022. The role of the Communications Directorate is critical as it is responsible for communicating the plans, actions, and vision for the government to every tier of society.

With a proven track record of developing and implementing compelling communication plans, Mr. Tynes has displayed a remarkable ability to enable and drive organizational priorities. His leadership includes effective management of resources and budgets to achieve value for money, identifying cost-saving opportunities, and ensuring the efficient delivery of communication objectives.

We are confident in Mr. Tynes’ ability to take on this task and to lead the Communications Directorate into the next phases of its operations.

Congratulations on this well-deserved career achievement, Kimo!”

Press Statement

Minister of Immigration, Hon. Arlington Musgrove, Addresses Horrendous Abuse of Maria Rolle by Cory Gulka of Villa 6 Upper East Side Estates Leeward

As the Minister with responsibility for Immigration I am appalled at the treatment of a Turks and Caicos Islander, Ms. Maria Rolle, on these shores, and at the hands of Mr. Cory Gulka, an expatriate.

The release and video issued by the brave young Rolle was disturbing and infuriating, to say the least, and it showed the actions of what I can only call a bully and of absolute hatred by Mr. Gulka.

Let me be clear, to live and work amongst us in these Islands is indeed a privilege and one which should never be abused, nor should it be taken for granted. And when it is shown to be the case it must be stopped in its tracks. Therefore, my team will be looking into this matter more closely over the next few days.

Racism and ill treatment of anyone, and especially Turks and Caicos Islanders, will not be tolerated and my team and I will also be taking the necessary steps in coming weeks, through amendments to the Immigration Ordinance, to ensure that the government, both current and future, has the legal frameworks to respond to such blatant disrespect and disregard for our people and our country.

I wish to take this opportunity to encourage Ms. Rolle and to thank her for speaking up and not letting characters such as Cory Gulka get away with such despicable behavior.
