Nusumetu Protected Area in Green Hill, North Tanna, Vanuatu, aims to be an ecotourism adventure with a difference. True to the ‘eco’ in ecotourism, this site takes conservation of the highlands seriously. It aims to promote the purity of the highlands in its history, nature and culture.
Each stage of the Eco journey comes with activities that bring visitors through the footsteps of the ancestors of the Nusumetu People and the wonders of the natural environment.
So the concept of treading lightly “take nothing but photographs, leave nothing but footprints” is core to the owners and visitors.
The Heart of Nusumetu Ecotourism is an adventure event that relieves history, culture and stewardship of nature initiated by the people living in the Green Hill Area of North Tanna in Vanuatu.
Participants will travel on a 40 minutes’ drive from Lenakel and walked across villages to the ego of natural forested Palms, views and historical sites where ancestors of the people of Nusumetu used as settlements and routes since thousands of years ago.
The Tour is an initiative between the owners of Nusumetu, Department of Tourism, Department of Environment, Live and Learn Vanuatu and funded by the Critical Ecosystems Partnership Fund that aims to increase awareness and understanding of Vanuatu’s Endemic Palm in the Hearts of Nusumetu highlands!
