To All LPV Party Suppoters.
Sapose ino Vanuatu mi no kam wan Leader/MP:
Hemi time blong kivim back long Vanuatu.
I would like to inform the LPV Party suppoters and the people of Vanuatu of my reasons for declining a ministry in the Vanuatu Government.
I turned down the offer to allow for members of my party to serve as Minister.
The decision was made in order for me to offer my experience to provide training and coaching to MPs to ensure they serve the nation well.
I am calling on older politicians to do the same.
One of the reasons why there is always instability in Vanuatu politics is because the same people are given a ministerial position - in different governments - and other young MPs are never given the opportunity to serve in a ministerial position.
A leader creates opportunity for his followers to come up.
Leaders put their ambition and ego aside for the good of the nation. This is what I am doing.
It is not the first time I have declined a senior position within government because I believe training and advising younger MPs is far more important.
We need to prioritise getting our economy on track, on climate change, or better health care and education and on fixing the national airline.
We cannot do that by constantly changing leadership. We need to teach our MPs to put Vanuatu and its people first and I am proud to be a leader by setting this example.
Thank you former PM Alatoi Ishmael Kalsakau for showing true leadership by giving opportunities to your MPs. Current PM Salwai you had also display the same leadership qualities.
I hope to counsel and train any politician that is interested in diplomacy, in advocacy and in standing up for what’s right.
I hope my decision to guide others from the backbench will set a precedent. I hope others will join me in taking a stand for stability for the good of the country.
It is time Vanuatu had true leadership.
