Before we started buying fresh produce, we saw expat owned businesses buying local food at Vt50 to Vt80 per KG.

During that time, no local objected to those businesses buying their produce at that rate. We dont know why but think because they are expats so the locals respect them and sell at that rate.

We promised to raise the price once we started buying and we have and guess what? Even for better prices the locals started complaining and saying 'sell out copra lo backsaed"

We purchase per KG above Vt150 for each produce and yet the locals come and complain? How about you demand same rates from the expats that buy from you.

We will give you an example: Cocoa is bought in Malekula at Vt180. We will start buying Cocoa late September at Vt300 per KG.

Don't speak if you don't know what we have done to local prices.

Road restrictions in Luganville now lifted by Vanuatu Police Sanma Patrol from Tiroas Barracks area and shift to Suranda area to allow the population from the South Easthern Periurban areas to access essential services in town.

The lift is limited to this afternoon 6pm curfew time.

The South Westerly part of Luganville town will have its road access restrictions lifted tomorrow and will lapse at the same time, 6pm curfew time.

Luganville-Sanma celebrations is over and closed.
Closing remarks made by the chairman and at the same time SG for SANMA Provincial Government at the Unity Park stage this morning.
It has been a long celebrations week filled with activities and fun as well as its own challenges.
Today stall owners cleared their structures and started vacating the area.
The Municipal Council took care of the task of collecting and dumping the rubbish leaving a clean and friendly environment ready to receive its usual by passers and users.
On his closing remarks, Mr Ruddly reiterated on the good working cooperation which led to the success of the celebration week.

This is it... it came to pass.. 40 solid years since July 30 1980. Luganville-Sanma celebrations are now over... The celebrations local organizing committee wishes to thank each and everyone, as well its members as the public at large for making this year's week-long event a successful one.
Luganville-Sanma people are strong and resilient... no one in the whole country compares to them... they lived through a devastating CAT5 Tropical Cyclone and had to respond to themselves...a few months later they celebrate thei country's independence day wholeheartedly... this is a rare thing to find...

Kenu(Canoe) the sole mean of transportation which enabled migration in the Pacific, before any motorized marine vessel known to man.
Luganville-Sanma celebrations gives kenu a special place this year again since 2016, as a token of significance for what it meant d. still does.
Canoe was a vessel of life, migration, war, trades, exchange and many more.
This year's kenu festival edition, there is display of the art of kenu crafting by the elders of Malekula who honoured Luganville-Sanma committee with their participation plus the water sports including canoe paddling races and sailing.
The Kenu concept was revived by Mr. Jacques Tronquet in 2015.

Luganville-Sanma 40 year anniversary celebrations Committee has the honour to present famous artist Andrew David AKA Andrew Faol during its independence celebrations.
Andrew made this very special honour for the people of Luganville for their celebrations.. he flew all the way from his home island Tanauta today to perform for Mr. Mayor Peter Patty and the President of Sanma Province, Malmal Langi Touve's celebrations.
