Hey, if your business sells products, you know how important it is to have awesome photos to display them. But what if costly photo shoots aren't in your small biz budget?
Relax...with your smart phone, a $15 rotating platform display, some natural lighting and a few simple tips, you can create awesome photos yourself. So keep reading!
Whether you sell through your website, an ecommerce platform or online catalog, you want your photos to make a good first impression. Does that mean you need
photos with exotic lighting, mood colors or special effects?
No! What you need are clean, simple, straight-forward photos that clearly - and accurately - display your product. While there may be some products that would invite some fancy photo styling, most do not. And since the majority of people tend to access your products on their phones, there's not much room to show glitz and glamour anyway!
The KISS method works perfectly for product shots. Here are some tips to keep it simple:
* The cameras on today's smart phones are fantastic - use them instead of buying an expensive DSLR rig (they're a lot easier to use, too!).
* Always use a tripod. You may think you have a steady hand...but you don't!
* Use clean, simple backdrops like a white poster board or paper roll.
* Adding a prop is OK sometimes...rarely...just don't do anything to distract your visitors' eyes from your product.
* Instead of spending money on lighting equipment, let Mother Nature help - set your shot location next to a window and take advantage of natural light!
* Fine tune your photos (crop, exposure, etc.) with free, easy-to-use editing software like Canva or Adobe Express.
