The Yorktown Volleyball team opened up their season with a clean sweep over Nixon-Smiley. The Kitty Kats will look to nab another win tonight when they face off against the Ganado Maidens. Head to the gym to catch the second match and look for more details in next week’s edition.
In front of a home crowd, the 2024-25 Wildcat football team showcased their skills, endured the heat, and played in their traditional black and gold scrimmage.
Update: Yorktown Athletes Medal at State Powerlifting Meet
Hunter Hall was awarded a silver medal for his efforts at the Texas High School Powerlifting Association State Contest. He lifted a combination of 1665 lbs in the SHW division. Johnny Guerrero totaled 1155 lbs in the 132 lb weight class and clenched a bronze medal standing. Look for more details in next week’s edition.
State Powerlifting has gotten underway in Abilene, Texas. Yorktown participants Hunter Hall and Johnny Guerrero have completed the squat division. Hall successfully hoisted 700lbs and Guerrero raised 460lbs. Best of luck to these two qualifiers. Look for more details in next week’s edition.

Eight grade girls buzzer beater
Eighth grade basketball coach, Michael Blaschke was given a memorable gift for his birthday as his team won the Pettus Tournament in dramatic fashion. Earlier in the day, the team beat Bloomington, 31-8. However, the championship game was a nail biter. With the score tied Palyn Koopman swished a buzzer beating shot to win the game against Pettus, 22-20.
Wildcats host district opponent Skidmore-Tynan. The Wildcats have demonstrated hustle throughout the first period. Currently, Yorktown trails, 31-8.

Yorktown hosted their first home district game tonight. The Wildcats faced the Kenedy Lions. At halftime, the Wildcats trail the Lions, 32-9.
Wildcats are back in action! They are battling against the Goliad Tigers at home. At the moment they trail 19-5 after period one. In the video below Wildcat Brayden Knostman gets a steal and senior Dalton Eckhardt finishes with a basket.
Edit: the Wildcats led the game after the first quarter, 14-13. After the first half, Waeldar would over take the Wildcats, 25-22.

Wildcats completely control the game against Snook after going down, 13-0. Yorktown shut out the Bluejays for three quarters, winning 44–13.
