I sat down for coffee this week with Justin Roberto of Colonial Wealth Strategies -- we worked on an article about him and his business which will be featured in our September issue for "Supporting Local!"

You may have seen Justin's monthly column in the magazine each month with great tips on improving financial fitness - they're worth a read as they have great advice. Justin's passion is helping people sift through the overwhelming information out there about money, addressing client's individual situations, and creating a plan to cover all future situations so not only is the client covered, but their loved ones are, as well.

Picking a good financial planner is a way to protect and plan for the future - financial plans needs to be updated and re-evaluated yearly as situations change, and there is no 'cookie cutter' approach to financial planning. It takes a professional to be able to look at the situation and address what is needed.

His goal is to help people build and achieve their dreams! He's an avid golfer (and coaches the William & Mary Women's Golf Team), and has a lovely family with another little one on the way!

We had a fantastic B2B Event last night, graciously hosted by Wine & Design, which was open to all Running Man business owners and Stroll Running Man partners.
Brandon, the owner of Wine & Design, was a fantastic host and provided some munchies and drinks while we mingled and got to know each other as business owners to see how we can help and support each other on our business journeys.

We had a great time yesterday at our first ever Pet Palooza at the Clubhouse sponsored by Stroll Running Man, Hearts at Home Pet Sitting, LLC, Anna Kratoville Photography, and Zoom Room Dog Training - Williamsburg!

We had Peninsula Pet Pantry and dogs and bunnies from Peninsula Regional Animal Shelter in attendance, delicious premium frozen yogurt from Sweet Frog Yorktown, a dog trick contest, silent auction (which raised over $500 for the pet pantry and animal shelter), pet photography courtesy of Anna Kratoville Photography, and more!

How cool is this!? RM partner Donna Wilson of Wilson Law PLC has a brother, Jeffrey Wilson, and he's taking over writing the Jack Ryan series from Tom Clancy - AND they're coming to Norfolk on tour - wanted to share in case anyone was interested!

Running Man residents and Stroll magazine partners were invited last night for an evening at Simply Unique Jewelry Designs, conveniently located in Yorktown (just down 17). After helping ourselves to wine, cheese, and other goodies, owners Tim Wright and Alex Mayaskin walked us through the jewelry-making process and their inspiration for creating jewelry pieces. It was amazing how old and timeless techniques can be combined with newer technologies to make pieces especially tailored to each customer.

Simply Unique is known for its custom designed and crafted jewelry and the items you find at the store cannot be found elsewhere! They have an astonishingly beautiful collection, and were actually named Best Jewelry Designer in the World in an international competition in 2019. We especially enjoyed sneaking a peak in the workshop to see how the jewelers create, design, and construct new pieces, and the process that goes into creating something new.

I got in the boxing ring today! Just for a picture :) I met with owner and neighborhood partner Tyrone Smith of Judah Pride The Academy of Boxing to work on his feature article for our July issue, and I'm so excited to share his story with our residents.

He has a true passion to help, inspire, and encourage kids and adults to build confidence, learn discipline, and excel at tackling life's challenges, both in and out of the ring. He's a short hop away from the neighborhood in the Grafton area, and his motto is "You don't have to be a boxer to train like one."
