York Music Group (YMG) is a student-run club that offers the students of York College of Pennsylvania relevant, experiential learning while also providing professional services in record production, concert management, and production to local artists throughout the region. As a business simulation, YMG serves students and the local community with YCP Studios (an educational and commercial recordin

g facility) and York Volume (a student-operated record label and concert production company). An organization actively involved in the community, YMG seeks to connect the students of York College of Pennsylvania to the greater York community and beyond. YMG provides students with hands-on experiences that will serve them beyond college. While skills obtained during their time with YMG will empower and embolden students, these skills are combined with effective networking and outreach strategies. Professional development is certainly part of our company culture (resumes, portfolios, etc.), and recognizing the ever-changing context of the music industry, we act as a networking hub designed to offer students and local artists regular opportunities to connect with producers, attorneys, agents,
managers, executives, and even rock stars!

Our Story

York Music Group (YMG) was created out of the need to keep with the ever-changing music industry, and to better replicate a real-world media conglomerate for the students of York College of Pennsylvania to learn from. Showcasing and producing the best music in central Pennsylvania, we are a fully operational, student-run business that offers the students of York College of Pennsylvania relevant “experiential” learning while also offering clients professional services in record production, concert management and production, and publishing. As a business, YMG is based on a corporate model and includes the following divisions: YCP Studios (an educational and commercial recording facility); YCP Records (a student-operated record label); York Live (concert promotions, management, and production); 112 Music (music publishing); and the Music Industry Student Association (lectures, panel discussions, and conferences). An organization actively involved in the community, YMG seeks to connect the students of York College of Pennsylvania to the greater York community and beyond. YMG provides students with hands-on experiences that will serve them beyond college.
