Obituary - Harrison Jerry Davis, Jr.
November 15, 1949, to December 16, 2023
Jerry Davis, was born November 15, 1949, moved to Yazoo City when he was barely a month old from Morgantown, West Virginia. Jerry was educated in the Yazoo City Public Schools, attended First Presbyterian Church, achieved the rank of Eagle Scout in the BSA and was honored to be a member of the Lions All State Band. He attended the University of Southern Mississippi, where he played drums in the marching band and Hinds Junior College. He served in the US Army where he was stationed in Germany until his discharge. He later saw his dream of moving to California and playing rhythm professionally as drummer. Jerry moved back to Mississippi. in the early 1980s, where he enjoyed various jobs including, field appraisals for FSA, working on computers, and working for Adams Home Center. He never lost his love for music and performing. Dear to his heart was the Blue Front Cafe, where he had many friends, and always wished he could be on stage beating rhythm on the drums.Jerry is preceded in death by his father, Harrison Jerry Davis, Sr, and his mother, Irene Perkins Davis. He leaves behind his two sisters, Carol Ann Davis Thompson (Vic) of Tallahassee, FL, and Linda Sue Davis Frauenhoffer (Andrew), of Hustonville, KY. nephews Mark Thompson of Naples, FL, and John Frauenhoffer of Lexington, KY, nieces, Rachel Followell, of Danville, KY, Joanna Howell, of Lexington KY, Kristen Jackson of Lexington, KY, and nine great nephews and nieces.
