Thomas A. Dorsey passed away on this day in 1993, often referred to as the “Father of Gospel Music”. 🎼

Penning over 3,000 songs, he wrote some of the most beloved gospel songs of all time, including “Peace In The Valley”, “Take My Hand, Precious Lord”, “The Old Ship of Zion”, “Walk All Over God’s Heaven”, and many, many more. Dorsey is a member of the Gospel Music Hall of Fame, Songwriters Hall of Fame, and the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame.
