Drowning Victim Recovered

Wylie, TX, July 22, 2024 – At 4:37 pm, Wylie Public Safety Communications received a report of multiple people in the water in the East Fork of the Trinity River between Lake Lavon and Lake Ray Hubbard. The caller reported that the victims were north of State Hwy 78 where the rivers crosses under. Wylie Police, Wylie Fire Rescue and EMS were dispatched at 4:38 pm and arrived on scene at 4:43.

Wylie Fire personnel immediately assisted bystanders removing three victims from the water. Two of those victims were transported to local hospitals in stable condition. The third victim was treated on scene and released. The search for the fourth victim continued with the assistance of Garland Fire Department’s swift water team who responded to assist. The US Army Corps of Engineers were contacted and immediately closed the Lavon Dam gates reducing the water flow aiding in the search efforts.

At 8:11 pm, the victim was recovered by Wylie divers. Wylie detectives who were on scene took over the investigation. The victim was a 28-year-old male. His identity is being held at this time. Wylie Fire Rescue would like to thank Garland Fire Department for their assistance.

Headed DOWN SOUTH to catch BIG FISH! RAIN OR SHINE! Kaleb ended up breaking his PB on Freshwater Drum (Gasper Goo) with 13.23 LBS!Andrew also broke his PB on Drum with 13.10 LBS! Previous PB was 10 lbs! More than 100 Pounds of fish was caught THIS DAY! Definitely a trip for the books!
