This week, Central MA lost an important voice in our area Jazz Community. Jay Tyer was a former student, teaching colleague, and friend. He mentored two generations of aspiring Jazz musicians through his private teaching and especially through the weekly jam sessions he conducted. For more than 15 years Jay hosted open jam sessions which brought many musicians together, creating a welcoming community of players wanting to explore jazz language in a supportive environment.
We have much to thank you for Jay! You will be greatly missed.
