After KLM cancelled my flight home they rebooked me on Delta the next day. The best part is I was eligible for €600 in compensation and got a hotel with full board in Amsterdam. I spent only 50k points for this flight in business class, something that would be impossible with Delta SkyMiles!

I was supposed to beat Amanda home from England by a day after I found the best deal with points at the last minute, but it ended up being only 90 minutes.

I was a bit letdown by Delta One, they have the reputation as being the most premium US airline but this experience fell short.

Many people don’t know that when you’re flying in and out of the EU you have additional rights that guarantee compensation during flight disruptions that aren’t caused by weather or other uncontrollable issues. For flights delayed more than four hours you are entitled to cash compensation of €600, but don’t expect the airline to offer this.

KLM cancelled my flight home after Christmas and rebooked me the next day on Delta. I submitted a compensation claim online right away, it was very easy. I also spoke to the folks at their airport help desk and they give me a hotel room for the night with full board and amenities, plus I also received a €15 voucher to use at the airport.

Sure enough 2 weeks after my flight they did indeed send me $621.64. Considering my flight was only about $300 that worked out pretty good, I still flew home in business class (Delta One video coming soon) and got a bonus night in Amsterdam!

I surprised my niece with her first business class flight on our way back from London! I may have ruined her life, now she thinks economy is trash. 🗑️😂 Well luckily she is already collecting valuable points and miles!

Cheap cruises are back and better than ever! If you saw my cheap cruise video from last December I paid $310 with taxes & fees for a four night cruise on MSC.

I thought that was insane until I found the cheapest 4 night cruise I've seen yet, which I managed to book for just $236 or only $59 a night as a solo traveler (I got a $9 gold member discount thanks to their Marriott status match) including taxes and fees. The popular Easy Plus drinks package was on sale for $180 for the whole cruise.

Better yet, I saved even more with Rakuten (bonus AmEx points!) and got a free upgrade to a balcony again! 🤩

Head over to MSC's website and search for similar deals from Port Canaveral or Miami. This is definitely not sponsored, there are plenty of similar deals on 3-4 night cruises going through January. You can even do 7 nights from NY for not much more. It starts at only $199 a person with double occupancy, taxes are now included in the up-front price as the cruise industry has moved to a more transparent pricing model like the airlines. 👏 MSC has a nickel and dime pricing model, but their ships are well designed and I had so much fun and I don't think there is a better value for your travel dollars on the sea. 🛳️

Is a cheap cruise too good to be true?

Since my cheap cruise video from last December is closing in on 1M views and with nearly 100k hours of watch time (by far my best yet) I thought it would be a good idea to search for another cheap cruise.

This time I found an even better deal! $236 including tax for another 4 night adventure on the sea from Florida. Now I did save $9 for being a gold member (they status match to nearly everyone) but you can book it for $245 or $199 per person with double occupancy.

I'll be on a different ship out of Miami instead of Port Canaveral. Now I'll admit MSC will nickel and dime you for add ons like no one else, but their ships are really nice and their private island Ocean Cay is absolutely paradise.

Pro tip: The drinks package went down in price by quite a bit after I booked!

I took my niece to London to see a concert and we flew overnight all the way from Houston in United's smallest seat. 😱 We decided to make it a luxurious experience anyway by bringing a few things on board, and we even had caviar unlike those expensive seats in business class! 😆

This plane used to have 9 seats across but they reconfigured it to fit 10 seats so they're the narrowest seats in United's fleet even though this is the largest plane they fly. I saved all my points for our flight home so you can see my niece's first experience in business class in the next video! 🤩

Cruise ships keep getting bigger and bigger, and the king of the biggest ships is Royal Caribbean who launched their newest ship in July (on my birthday coincidentally) out of Port Canaveral.

Utopia of the Seas cost more than $1.3 Billion to build and is 5x bigger than Titanic was. It is currently the 2nd largest cruise ship in the world, behind Icon of the Seas which was introduced earlier this year. I brought my dad along for his very first cruise on the inaugural sailing and we were both blown away by this sparkling new mega ship!

Have you ever seen the northern lights? This winter may be a great time to check that one off your bucket list because we are around the peak of the solar cycle and the activity has been very high lately. Look for dark, moonless nights and hope for clear skies. While I’ve photographed the aurora borealis many times, I’ve only seen it clearly with my own eyes twice, in the Faroe Islands and in the sky over Canada.

You can fly from NYC to Alaska for only 15k United miles & $6, or you can actually fly to Iceland for 22.5k Alaska miles (on an Icelandair flight) & $137. Search for last minute availability with points for free on a site called seats-dot-aero.

Thank you for the many birthday wishes yesterday, I really appreciate it! Everyone that has joined us on a Virgin Voyages adults only cruise has had an amazing time, including those who get seasick or have a fear of open water.
