Graduations are coming up, and The Woodstock Independent is ready to celebrate!
Every year, we put together, not one, but THREE special sections featuring our local graduating seniors from Woodstock High School, Woodstock North High School, and Marian Central Catholic High School.
For three consecutive weeks beginning May 29, we will honor our graduates -- and YOU can celebrate with us by sponsoring an advertisement or running a personal shout-out to let someone know how proud you are of them.

*Several Woodstock Community Unit School District 200 students were taken outside to view a twice-in-a-lifetime eclipse opportunity.
*WHS science teacher Nick Aiello viewed the eclipse as an opportunity to allow his students to see first-hand what they learn in the classroom by taking them outside with glasses provided by the district. He said many of them remembered the 2017 eclipse and were excited to see it again.
*WHS science teacher Jake Porter experienced a total eclipse in 2017 and flew over 1,000 miles to view the total eclipse for the maximum amount of time explaining that being in the path of totality is, “up to a million times cooler,” than what was experienced here.
*Woodstock resident and professor of astronomy John Carzoli traveled to Southern Illinois to view and photograph the eclipse.

Groundhog Day is here – again!
Just like Phil Connors, our intrepid Independent team will be out covering all the groundhog happenings from Thursday through Sunday. Woodstock Willie will be making his prediction alongside WGN-TV’s Chief Meteorologist Tom Skilling, The Woodstock Groundhog Days Committee , our valued local community, and visitors from all over the county and the world on Friday morning, but themed events will take place through Sunday.
In honor of Groundhog Day, The Woodstock Independent is making its 2023 limited edition glass ornament available for purchase this weekend.
The iconic The Cherry Tree Inn Bed and Breakfast played a role of its own in the Groundhog Day movie. RW Graphix designed the ornament to let the light shine through the Cherry Tree Inn –making it the perfect addition to a window or home – especially if #WoodstockWillie predicts an early spring!
Find the limited edition suncatcher all week long at The Thoughtfulness Shop, 104 Cass St.
You can relive the magic of Groundhog Day … over and over and over again … all year long!
Today is #SmallBusinessSaturday!
Grab your limited-edition, glass ornament today for $19.99 at The Thoughtfulness Shop -- 104 Cass Street.
As one of Woodstock’s countless small businesses, The Woodstock Independent values the many businesses who advertise and partner with us.
This year, our commemorative 2023 glass ornament features Woodstock's own The Cherry Tree Inn Bed and Breakfast . Owner Lori works hard to collaborate with local businesses, and The Cherry Tree Inn Bed and Breakfast is featured in 2023’s holiday movie – #reportingforchristmas – produced by Very Merry Entertainment and is available for intimate gatherings, overnight getaways, small weddings and events, and more.
The ornament was created by one of our staff members, produced by R.W. Graphix, and will be sold at The Thoughtfulness Shop and The Woodstock Independent. We value small businesses and look forward to continuing to be your No. 1 source for news and information.
