And this is why there are road closed signs on Second Street. Tuesday morning an Amazon truck came off North Carver Street and entered Second Street hoping to get to the Post Office. After the rain overnight, the road was sloppy and the truck proceeded to get stuck.

Good news. We received an email from our website company that, although they are not fully operational, they are now able to take our pages for online subscribers and get them uploaded. Thepages were just sent up so they will be available some time today. Thank you for your understanding.

We have been informed that the company we go through for our website has experienced a network outage at its data center that affects emails and websites. They have been working on the situation since last night but have no estimation when it will be resolved.
We will update both our site and online subscription once it is up and running.

On Friday, April 12 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.GFW will be holding a Groundbreaking Celebration event at GFW Elementary School in Gibbon that will feature fun activities for the whole family.

The groundbreaking will kick off in the gym at 5:30 with a welcome address and visits from special guests followed by a display of GFW History throughout the years in the ECFE room, carnival games in the gym, inflatables outside, an appearance from the Big Ideas Mobile Learning Lab, free hot dogs and refreshments, and rides out to the site of the new facility for opportunities to take photos and learn about our new the plans for the school. While walk-ins are welcome, it is suggested you RSVP online at https://bit.ly/RSVP-GFW

It was announced yesterday that Crow River Press, the Hutchinson Leader and Litchfield Independent Review will cease operations on April 28.
The Winthrop News is printed at Crow River Press and we are currently looking into our options for printing our paper.
We have had a long and wonderful relationship with Crow River Press and our heart goes out to the great employees there.

We are sorry for the delay with the Winthrop News this week. The servers at Crow River Press went down yesterday and they were not able to print the Winthrop News as well as four other papers. As of 7:10 a.m. on Wednesday, we have not heard if the problem has been solved yet. We will get the papers out as soon as we are able to pick them up.
