After looking at the latest models, it appears our arctic air will win out and suppress our storm system farther south and east. This will bring little to no snow in the Piedmont with 1-2" along and east of I-95. Some spots could see 2-4" It is still very well possible we see our system more south and weaker. Either way, we all need to prepare for dangerously cold temperatures over the next several days. We will likely go below freezing around 10pm tonight and not get above freezing until sometime Thursday. 80+ hours below freezing. Pipe bursting conditions. LAKES AND PONDS WILL FREEZE THIS WEEK. Please keep kids and pets away from the ice. It will be dangerous to walk on!!!!

There hasn't been too much change in the overnight models. Still some uncertainty on storm track. Extreme/dangerous cold is becoming likely in the Carolinas while a winter storm has growing possibilities. The Canadian model has been the most consistent, but also the most aggressive. The Euro and GFS have been flip flopping but starting to come into more agreement. A track more N&W (Canadian model) will give the Triad more snow. A track more S&E (Euro/GFS) will give better changes of wintry weather in the Eastern Carolinas. This scenario is the most favored right now. A track difference of just 50miles will make all the difference. Im waiting on the afternoon runs to come in and hopefully we'll start to have a better picture. Either Way, a winter storm in the Carolinas is becoming more likely, but not in the places that you would normally see.
