Plugin Error Announcement:

As of 12/17/24 there is a known bug that has occurred during the attempted updating of Elementor WordPress editor. When the plugin is updated to 3.26.0 or 3.26.1, critical errors and endless editor loading may occur. It causes conflicts with various commonly used plugins such as RankMath Pro and JetEngine, although it is usually Elementor that is the problem, not the other plugins.

If this is happening to your website, we can help resolve this situation. Note that once this is occurring, the WordPress updater is typically not updating properly and steps to manually correct the situation must be taken.

Bluetera is sponsoring Hood's Homestead, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, in their effort to provide supplies, labor and relief to the residents of Western North Carolina that were severely impacted by hurricane Helene.

They will be making a trip to Minneapolis, NC on 11/2 to transport requested supplies to a local church. They will also be joining another church group coming all the way from Ohio with heavy equipment and supplies. This group will be providing labor to help clean up debris, clear roads and any other help they can provide.

Hood's Homestead is currently accepting donations of needed items from those in the triad area and those willing to ship items prior to 11/2. You can also make tax deductible donations on their website. All donations at this time are 100% dedicated to hurricane Helene relief.

Please help Western North Carolina get back on their feet before winter!

Earlier in 2024, Bluetera launched the new website design for FormaCars of Columbus, Ohio. Their old website was broken not performing efficiently. It also lacked features that they wanted to add.

I see a lot of my favorite businesses and friends choosing to post their content to Facebook stories instead of regular page feed posts. My professional opinion as a social media manager is that Facebook stories can actually problematic for the goals of the person posting them. And until Facebook improves their functionality, I don't recommend using mostly stories for content sharing. Here are the problems I see:

1. Stories expire after 24 hours. Then it's impossible for anyone to ever see them again. Facebook does not offer an archive link on your profile or page to see older stories. People visiting your profile or page will only see feed posts, videos and reels... not stories. So what ends up happening is people mostly post stories, then their profile/business page ends up having old stale content on it and they do not look active to the person that missed their stories.

2. Stories will only be seen by people who follow you and people the Facebook algorithm thinks might have an interest in your content. So someone new to your business page that isn't following you yet will not see your stories content.

3. Stories lack commenting and interaction with other people. Instead, they only allow direct messaging to you. This is useful when you want direct messages, but in terms of getting people talking about your content and sharing... it won't happen with stories.

4. The control functions on stories is awful if the images contain a lot of text or if there are a lot of images. It is extremely difficult for a lot of users to figure out how to scroll backwards or pause the story scrolling. They scroll so fast that it's hard to read a lot of text or get a good look at the images.

5. For business purposes, public feed posts are better than stories for search engine optimization and user traffic. Search engines can index feed posts indefinitely and show them in search engine listings. Search engines cannot index stories and will not show them in search.

I'm not suggesting you stop using stories altogether. Because stories do have benefits and they do get a decent amount of interaction with users currently active. I'm just suggesting:

1. Maintain a good balance of stories, reels and Facebook feed posts. Feed posts should take priority over stories.

2. Don't only post important content in stories. Always post it in your feed as well. Not everyone will see your stories and they will expire in 24 hours. Know that only you can see your archived stories, no one else can.

3. Don't include a lot of text on images in stories. They scroll too fast and it's hard to read the text and look at the image.

4. Don't include a large number of images in one round of stories. The more images, the faster it scrolls.

5. Recognize that the stories functionality is still frustrating for many people. They don't know how to scroll backwards. There are a lot of complaints about it not being user friendly on the Internet.
