Jerry Flowers announced his candidacy for the office of Mayor of Winona. The municipal general election will be held on June 3, 2025.

Flowers served as Winona’s mayor for 14 years until he lost the position in 2021. Prior to serving as mayor, he was a member of the Winona Board of Aldermen for 14 years.

Tommy Acy, who has played and coached at Carroll Academy, has been named the new head football coach in Carrollton, replacing Bo Milton, who was let go of as head coach following the Rebels’ 2024 season.

Winona High School’s Tyler Lockhart created quite the drama during last Wednesday’s National Signing Day.

Lockhart, who has been committed to Mississippi State University since the summer, created a stir when it was announced he had signed with rival Ole Miss during the day.

Six-year-old Jaydon Gregg of Olive Branch made his first buck a memorable one by harvesting this impressive 8-point while hunting in Carroll County. The young hunter was accompanied by his Papa, Clay Gregg, when he made the successful shot. Jaydon is the son of Ty and Jessica Gregg.

On Wednesday, Dec. 4, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, with the assistance of the Winona Police Department and the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics conducted a county wide detail resulting in the arrest of eight people and serving thirteen felony arrest warrants.
