Valentine’s Day is around the corner so ditch the generic chocolates and enjoy a tasty handcrafted treat from local Virginia chocolatiers! 😍 Our guide on VAFoodie.com will help you discover local chocolate makers who make tasty truffles and decadent desserts.

Here are some of our favorites:
has been around since 2001, creating distinctive artisan chocolates in Charlottesville, VA. You can find their bars all around Virginia in places like in Ashland and in Richmond!
Warfels Sweet Shoppe, operating since 1993 in Shenandoah Valley, produces fresh, quality chocolates and sweets in small batches. We recommend the chocolate pecan toffee. 🤤

(pictured) has artisan chocolates that are all handmade in small batches and will have expanded hours the week of Valentine’s Day!

is a family-owned chocolate shop with locations in Arlington and Mclean. They have beautifully made chocolate truffles with flavors ranging from cardamom orange (their vegan flavor) to raspberry to bourbon pecan.

is the place to go for gourmet chocolate in the Virginia Beach area. They have some amazing treats like truffles and chocolate covered strawberries! 🍓

in Wi******er aims to create memorable and delicious artisan chocolates using fresh, local ingredients and time-honored French methods.

456 Fish is a corner bistro offering refined seafood & cocktails in an airy space with dark wood & ceiling fans.
Capo Capo is an Italian steakhouse situated on the lobby level of the Norfolk Waterside Marriot.
Cork & Kettle is known for its Virginia organic wines, which are produced by vineyards prioritizing sustainability and quality.
d’Egg Diner is a storefront cafe serving American diner fare and vegetable and fruit juices.

The week between Christmas and New Years is the *perfect* time to order takeout on repeat. 😍​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​We picked up and enjoyed Chana Masala, Aloo Gobhi, Paneer Tikka Masala, & Garlic Naan. It was the perfect spread and we had plenty leftover for lunch the next day. 👍 This spot is in Carytown, right across from the . The prices are good and the flavor was on point. 👌

Here are a few of our other favorite takeout spots around Virginia:

🍕Richmond: - Some of the best pizza & pasta in town. This spot is takeout only.

🍗Norfolk & Virginia Beach: This is the perfect place to grab a fried chicken biscuit.

🥗Charlottesville: .fare is the perfect spot to pick up a meal if you're craving some veggies after all those holiday feasts.

Shenandoah Heritage Market (Harrisonburg)- This market of 81 has everything from tasty fudge to homemade jams! It’s a great spot for local finds!

(Fredericksburg)- This co-op focuses on sources local food and produce meaning they have tons of local food products that make great gifts!

(Virginia Beach)- This farmers market runs year round and it’s a great spot for local gifts (including non-food gifts like locally made soaps!) so you can definitely find a gift for everyone on your list.
