Cheers to a delicious 2024! I absolutely loved sipping & tasting my way through the state. Here are just a few highlights from some of my favorite places:
@celeste.farms’ dinner experience was one of the most fun and interactive dining experiences I’ve ever tried! This spot is located in Varina, just outside of Richmond city.
@broadclothrestaurant hosted a @vaspirits dinner where we had a multi-course meal paired with different Virginia spirits and it was incredibly delicious and it’s such a beautiful space.
@pinkroomrva is open again and I’m so glad! We went here for my birthday and I just love the vibe of this space. And obviously the food is incredible.
@natesbagels is a weekend staple around here. My go-to order is a rosemary sea salt bagel with scallion cream cheese. I’ve probably eaten over 75 bagels this year and I have no regrets.
@kingfamilyvineyards hosts polo matches and I finally made it to one! Tailgating on the lawn with a bottle of their Crosè was the highlight of my Labor Day weekend.
I’m so excited to explore more restaurants & foods around the state in 2025!
We’ve been leaning into more non-alcoholic drink options this year and I’ve found so many fun options at @point5rva in Carytown!
This bottle shop has tons of non-alcoholic wine, beer, and spirits, including some of our favorite local finds like @hikehoppedseltzer, @drinkenay, @drinkcrunchy and @drinkuncool.
They also have kombucha, CBD drinks, mixers (like @drinknavyhill & @crescentsimples) so you can stock your pantry with everything you need.
P.S. This spot is right across from @thedinnerpartyrva so if you also need to pick up alcoholic wine, you can grab everything in one stop. 😉
Let’s visit the cutest coffee shop in Carytown! Sugar + Twine opened their dine-in space earlier this year and it’s so cute! They have lots of coffee and tea options, plus sweet and savory pastries and sandwiches.
Here’s what we got:
Tomato and fontina tart- This was perfectly flaky with a lovely savory filling. The goat cheese, fig & arugula sandwich which was the perfect mix of tangy cheese and sweet jam.
Snickerdoodle- The sandwich came with a little snickerdoodle which was soft and chewy with a lovely dusting of cinnamon and sugar.
This is the perfect spot to grab a cup of coffee or tea, but don’t miss out on their food options, too!

Let’s go visit @eightandahalfthefan!
8 1/2 recently closed their Church Hill location but they’re still open in the Fan! They’re on Strawberry St. right next to @scoop.rva. (So you have the perfect excuse to pick up a pint of ice cream while you’re there.)
This is one of our favorite pizza spots. The red pizza is just a liiiittle bit spicy. We also love the white pizza which is made with fontina. No dairy? No problem, their vegan pizza is SO good. It’s topped with cannellini beans and broccoletti. (I’m not vegan but this is one of my favorite pizzas.)
This time, we opted for a red pizza as well as the broccoletti pasta. We added ricotta + pine nuts to the pasta (highly recommend) and this meal filled us up with plenty of food leftover for lunch. 😉
They’re open everyday from 11a-10p.. (Keep in mind it’s takeout only.)

Let’s go to @susiesrva, a Jewish-inspired spot that just opened in the Fan.
Here’s what we got:
Trio of dips and toast
Potato Latkes
Ronnie sandwich with fries
(Plus a glass of wine and an N/A beer)
I think the Latkes were the star of the show! They were nicely seasoned and perfectly crispy. ✨
But the sandwich was really unique- It was a sub roll filled with sautéed broccoli rabe, white bean spread, and lemon Aioli. It was a little bit spicy which I loved and overall, it had a really delicious flavor.
The fries were nice and crispy and we used them to scrape up the last of the dips! (The hummus was my favorite of the three!)
The food was delicious, the service was great, and I just love the overall vibe of this spot. We’ll definitely be back soon! ❤️
📍 1600 W. Cary St. Richmond, VA
Right now, they’re open Tuesday - Sunday 4 - 10PM, but they plan to open for lunch soon!

Welcome to the Museum District, @bsidebakehouse!
We popped in to try a butter croissant and a cinnamon roll and both were SO good! The croissant was sooo flaky and the cinnamon roll was the perfect amount of sweetness to pair with a cup of coffee.
Check their Instagram for their latest hours and info, but make sure you stop in when you can! This place is a must-visit!

Let’s visit The Evergreen, a holiday pop up bar inside @birdiesva! They have special holiday themed drinks and tons of decorations. 🧑🎄
I love how the drink menu is designed like a catalog and each cocktail is unique and festive. I went with the “Seasonal Hire” which was gin, cranberry, orange, lemon, cranberry compote and rosemary. 🍹
Reservations fill up fast but the bar is available for walk ins and the space is open in the mornings Monday-Saturday so you can stop in for coffee & pastries and enjoy the scenery.

Let’s visit @baltiksbagel in Forest Hill! This new bagel shop opened last month and they’ve been busy ever since! This bagel shop is open Monday-Saturday (YAY for a bagel option on Mondays!) and their menu has a variety of bagel sandwiches, plus plenty of build your own options.
We ordered:
A toasted Softie everything bagel with scallion cream cheese, egg, and cheese.
The Brookgreen sandwich on a softie everything bagel, which included garlic cream cheese, pickled onions, avocado, tomato, cucumber, and sprouts
A side of ‘taters aka breakfast potatoes.
We liked the unique texture of their “softie” bagels, which were a little easier to stuff with toppings. I also really liked that they had such a variety of veggies. (I love sprouts.) I didn’t expect much from the ‘taters but these were really good, so definitely grab a side of these with your sandwich.
📍6801 Forest Hill Ave, Richmond, VA 23225
Open Monday-Satutday 6:30a-2pm. (Keep in mind they’re closed on Sunday!)

Gold Lion is a vegetarian cafe and bar located in the Manchester neighborhood of Richmond. They have a huge menu that includes Indian dishes, American classics, and plenty in between. They offer breakfast, lunch and dinner plus coffee, cocktails, and other specialty drinks. We love that their focus is on community and inclusivity. We had a cold brew, the Medu Vada, a Buddy’s Dosa, and the TLT with fries. Everything was delicious and we loved the creativity of the menu. Definitely give this place a try!

⭐️ We were invited to try out the new @handsomebiscuit location in Virginia Beach near Town Center! Handsome Biscuit opened its first location in Norfolk on February 5, 2013(!) and just opened the second location on September 23, 2024. They have a self-serve kiosk at the front, but plenty of friendly faces were around to answer questions and help us out when we were there. Shout out to John and Kylie for the 10/10 service! ✨
HB’s specialty is fried chicken & you guessed it… biscuits. We had the chance to try the Hella Fitzgerald along with The Nashville and lemme tell you… they both HIT the spot. The Hella Fitzgerald is a fried chicken biscuit with bacon, cheddar, and a red eye pork sausage gravy. The Nashville comes covered in a Nashville hot sauce. You can choose to put your sandwich on a biscuit or bun, but you’re missing out if you don’t get it on a biscuit.
🍉🍋 I paired my meal with a refreshing Watermelon Lemonade which was tangy yet sweet (another 10/10) and they also serve Coke products!
Their menu also has wraps + sides (next time I come back I’m trying those loaded tots), but if you’re craving a hearty chicken sandwich, check out Handsome Biscuit in the ❤️ of Virginia Beach 🌊
