🥉Pan American Bronze Medalist 🥉

Definitely wasn’t what I came here to accomplish, but as an old man in a young man’s sport, I’m pretty happy with the outcome. This was my first IBJJF No-Gi major event and I’ve been training for just over a year now.

There’s definitely plenty to improve upon, some rehabbing we need to do, but I’m happy nonetheless.

Special thanks to my training partners at and my professor and brother for all the training and support.

This is absolutely not the end of the road for me. I’m dead set on becoming a world champion. Time to go back to the drawing board.

As an attorney, I’m used to being the most hated guy in a room. No matter what type of case it is, there’s always someone who’s going to love you and someone who’s going to absolutely hate you.

Being a litigator requires tough skin. Sometimes you’re on the wrong side of the argument and you have to advocate for your client.

Although being the bad guy can be taxing, sometimes you’re the bad guy for the right reasons. If you’re the bad guy because it’s the right thing to do, embrace it.

Like many people, I like to be liked. However, it’s better to be respected, in my opinion; especially in my line of work.

So, as Scott Hall famously said, “hard work pays off. Dreams come true. Bad times don’t last, but bad guys do.”

Work hard, perfect your craft, follow your dreams, and be the bad guy for the right reason.

A federal judge has overturned the 2017 Court Martial conviction of Bowe Bergdahl, a former US Army soldier who walked off his post in Afghanistan in 2009 and was subsequently captured by the Taliban and held hostage for 5 years.

The federal judge overturned Bergdahl’s conviction because the military judge who presided over the trial failed to disclose his pending application for a federal immigration judge position.

The court ruled that the judge’s failure to disclose the application could have created the appearance of potential bias, given then-President Donald Trump's denunciations of Bergdahl. The court also noted that there was no finding of actual bias.
